alright adjusted psi on the GK and GTI this am. with rising temps, psi has been going up quite a bit and could feel it in the commute. (~1psi change for every 10F ambient temp change). should be a smooth ride tomorrow.
going to wash the GTI this am while cloudy and spot QD the STI. need to do some house chores today, but pm looks like smooth sailing for me.
have a good sunday!

alright qd’ed the STI, washed the GK’s engine bay and undercarriage, washed the GTI, cleaned the GK’s interior, washed the huskys and applied nero, finished off the GK by applying black wow to the faded plastic forward of the windshield and dressed the tires.
now time for snack.

Downpipes is what will give the burble and pops without drone. Cat backs don't give the sound I like because they are too far removed from the turbo's/motor. Downpipes on turbo cars and headers on N/A cars are what will give the real motor burbles and snap crackly pop sounds.
Cat backs just kind of fake the noise in my opinion.
Combine both and you either get ear nirvana or a total mess. I've had both results.

yah, i dont have the time right now to trial and error so im going to just leave the GTI as is for now. i know how the R sounds with the resonator removed and i like that tone so going to do the same when i get the DSG one.
dogdamn... allergies in full force today. been sneezing, itchy eyes, runny nose. been snorting up water and rising out my sinus once inside. works like a charm.

id like to straighten the bottom of the bumper, but there' just too many lines on the new front facia. like im trying to stay far away from the type-r look.. this goes in the wrong direction. lol

without looks cleaner.. i still like the MK7's R front bumper better. they did a great job on the GTI's new bumper but not the R.

alright, motored my STI and had a great time. did a quick QD on the facia to rid bugs and then proceeded to wash the GTI's engine bay and undercarriage. after the wash, i inspected the undercarriage and the car is in EXCELLENT condition still with barely any rust. very impressed. i spot touched up'ed the subframe and coated a few areas with oil to protect. looks great.
and i noticed my front splitter was coming apart a little bit from the bumper on the very front so fixed it while i had the car on ramps.i remember hitting a chunk of snow in the work parking lot in the winter and that probably popped one of the rivets partially out of its hole. this time i used a bolt and nylon locking nut with washers. next time i hit something, the thing will just break off. lol
then took a quick spin to dry the undercarriage.

ash- yah, i agree that its best to keep a weak link to allow it to break vs the whole piece. but this time the hole enlarged to a point i can't use another rivet so went with a small nut/bolt combo with washers.
in other news.. ordered my new bicycle. woot! should be here later this week. very excited.

Productive weekend. My mom came out & helped me completely re-do the landscaping in my front yard:
And I put my three CP035 on the car to see how I liked it, got lazy & just took the front one off because I wanted to drive the car today.

Neat folding bike Kenchan!
Good work on the yard Mike! Those CP035's will look good.
Finished up the firepit framing. Getting concrete quotes. Installed one of those sun shade sail type things this weekend to shade our back patio.
Washed the Civic and Elantra. Cleaned up the garage as it was a wreck form the firepit project.
Went to a friends for tacos/tequila for cinco de drinko...I mean cinco de mayo.

ash- that’s a good idea. the material is ABS on both the splitter and bumper bottom shroud sides and there is already some give on the shroud. if this was CF i would definitely use rubber washers under the metal washers to provide more even distributed clamping.
thanks shinjari, and GJ on the yard project, car washing, and garage cleaning! lol’ed at cinco de drinco. haha!

Man concrete quotes are all over the place. As low as $900 and as high as $2600 lol.
Also got this event to consider. Our city does an annual 'trade your gas lawn equipment' for an electric/cordless equivalent. Basically trade my working gas mower for a new fancy electric battery mower for $100. MSRP is $299. So basically they'd give me $200 for the 15 year old mower my dad gave us haha. Problem is, my gas one works perfectly fine and it has for nearly 15 years...will the batteries for an electric even work after 5 years?

mike- nice job on the new garden. . nice picts of s2k
shinjari, things aren’t made to last these days. id keep the gas mower. depending on how big your lawn is, single charge probably won’t last.

Lawn is tiny...maybe 10ft x 40ft. Takes all 10 minutes to mow haha.
Yeah I'm kinda leaning towards that mind set since its just a robust machine...but going electric would be eco-friendly, quiet (can mow earlier and not disturb neighbors) and I'd no longer smell of gas. But I do worry about the longevity of an electric mower/battery.
