I like when I get the message that they were unable to deliver because no one was home. Umm, I work from home.

The other regular one I get is left at doorstep and there's nothing at my door. That's when I have to call the neighbors. So far, it's always been sitting at one of their doors. I think our FedEx driver is dyslexic or something.

All complaining aside, I wouldn't want their jobs. Getting rained on, chased by dogs, walking through mud, etc is not how I'd want to spend my day.

Not to mention the poor FedEx guy that had to deliver the loft bed we ordered for our Son. Box was 110 lbs. I didn't know he was here until I heard the thud on the front porch. Guy carried it, by himself, up our three flights of stairs/walkway that leads to the front door. When I found him he was leaning on the railing and was about to pass out.

Yeesh. That sounds awful (for the FedEx guy). I always just request pickup at the FedEx store. Living in a medium/large metro area, I'd rather not risk someone stealing my packages (which generally contain car parts).

I photoshopped the Advans on to my car & lowered it roughly how far I think Swifts will drop the car. The image quality of my Advan pic I used was very poor, so you guys get a tiny preview image haha

Yeah, I wish I would have heard him sooner so I could have helped carry the thing.

We have the opposite problem. FedEx center is about 40 miles away. Just not convenient at all. So glad they deliver!

Great photoshop job! Can't wait to see the "real" image when it's complete.

Yeah I worked at Big Brown for nearly 11 years....I was a dispatch supervisor for a while so I managed the people loading the trucks each morning...then I switched to another dispatch department where I managed what stops/routes each driver took...then once I finished my engineering degree I went over to plant engineering assuming there was engineering to be done...wrong...its a glorified title for 'conveyor belt mechanic supervisor'. lol.

Needless to say the drivers at UPS got paid a nice salary. I knew several drivers who has their degrees and even masters and opted to be drivers. Their base salary (when I started there back in 2003) was $65k. Then with OT and being a veteran driver, many were easily making $100k+. Definitely enticing for those with only a GED. I mean they deliver to roughly the same places starting from 9AM until they have attempted every stop in their truck. If you finished early, then you got a pay bonus for the day....if you took forever you got OT...so it was a win-win either way.

HOWEVER, in the time I was there, there were so many guys who had knee, back, shoulder, wrist injuries/surgeries due to the repetitive nature of the job. To the point where some drivers because supervisors (pay cut) or had their routes cut shorter to accommodate their injuries. Sure the pay was good...but at the sacrifice of your body? I'm good.

Lot of interesting stories from those days...couple drivers got held up by hoodlums...a pair of drivers were having an affair together and were caught getting it on in the back of the truck....couple idiot supervisors thought they were slick and were stealing iphones and macbooks...one driver was stealing big screen TVs by dropping them off at his house. Most of these people were caught simply because the amount of metrics UPS collects. They know exactly where you should be, at what point in the day and they get notified when you deviate from your route. So when you break route to drive 2 miles to your house because its 'close'....they know.

Mike410b, when I order expensive items, despite living in a fenced area...I typically want them to deliver to the HUB. That way I can pick it up...though with my GPU experience a few months back....even that is not safe at times. Those advans look great, you got me scouring yahoo auctions now haha. The engrish translations are terrible....hopefully I can decipher these good enough to find a cool set of wheels.

Kenchan glad to hear about your voltage reader....so does this mean you dont need the other module you were considering?

As for the modem, it was the power brick...since it was 6+ years old I opted to buy a new modem with more bandwidth and Docsis 3.1 should I ever want to upgrade to Gigabit. Internet back online.

Essay done. Have a good Tuesday!

edit: I did see this sweet SI with ADVAN RGIII's and had to share. 18x9.5+45 on 235/40/18 and D2 springs.

shinjari- nice read and interesting to know ups’s inside. my ups guy is real cool. he knows me by name and he always kids around about me getting all da fun toys. lol

the voltage multiplier is just a hack to rapidly input more throttle voltage vs wat the gas pedal ‘s true input is.
so let’s say i give 20% throttle, the thing outputs 25% throttle at the same throttle angle. it has 4 different ramp angles and can vary it in 9 different settings. its no way a replacement for a AP but for da time being it’s cool.

I like that Si, though I'd run a bigger tire on it if possible. They seem over stretched for the height/wheel fit.

Let me know if you need any help navigating YAJ, I've bought the Kreutzer, my CP035, my JDM tails for the GE and some other stuff from the site.

My UPS/Fedex guys at my last job were great, though my favorite was our Averitt Express guy. Would always tell us stories about getting comped at casinos & so on.

Oh yeah people LOVE their drivers....they would tell me all the time about the comped/free stuff they'd get. Not to mention the bachelor (and a few non-bachelor) drivers would brag about their success with the ladies simply because of the stupid brown uniform lol. Ain't gonna lie, a GF at the time was like "do you have the uniform?"...in retrospect...I wish I did HAHA.

Yeah navigating the website seems easy enough. Its more or less interpretting the 'translation'.

I mean lets look at this auction ???6??????18X8.5J+32?114.3/5H?????10?????????? /?Buyee? "Buyee" Japan Shopping Service | Buy from Yahoo! Buy from Japan!

I 'translate' it...it says this lol. "Such as for the winter!"

Assuming they are OEM Evo wheels. Great style, size and price...lol. Just no clue on bran/weight etc. This'll be a journey.

Oooh, yeah I have no idea what those are. A lot of the ads say things like that, though you want to look really closely to make sure those are just warnings rather than statements of fact.

Just search "super most awesomest wheels ever" and I'm sure you'll find what you want

I searched "cheap junk wheels" years ago and bought a set of Rota's. LOL. Truth be told, with many years and many miles, they are still round, hold air, and the finish is better than the OEM wheels.

Unless they are forged or billet, all wheels cost next to nothing to make. Even forged ones probably cost a very small fraction of what they charge. Wheels are like lady's handbags, they are a fashion item with ridiculous mark up.

Not that I'm immune to their marketing. The right wheels can totally transform a vehicle.

Everything is cheap to make.

It is the machinery, engineering, finishes, materials, etc. (overhead), that add up.

those are all part of da cost u see?

rotas are just taking decorative designs and replicating dem cheaply with no real disregard to much of anything.

I know that.

I'm just saying, costs do add up. I don't believe Ray's is making anywhere near the margin we're talking about here.

Volume is the largest factor. A very large portion of the costs are fixed. Whether they make 100 wheels per mold or 10,000 per mold, a lot of the costs don't change.

If a company like Ray's wanted to, they could lower their prices and sell a whole bunch more wheels. Not saying they would make more or less money in the end, but they could do it. By keeping the prices high and the volume low, they are able to create exclusivity.

As was said above, the manufacturing cost is minimal compared to the rest.

Generally speaking, I'm a high volume quality shopper. In the watch world, that is a Seiko automatic. Good quality for a good price because they don't aim for exclusivity. In the wheel world, would that be Enkei at the low end and BBS/OZ at the higher end?
