yah i should've left like 19998 posts ago. lol

alright my case of maf cleaner arrived. this stuff is excellent for cleaning. not just for maf but for degreasing in general... i also tried a can of 99.9% IPA.. works well, but the issue is IPA turns into water after it leaves the can and that water takes a while to dry. maf cleaner dries instantly.

alright going to motor my WRX this am, get gas on the way home, followed by a nice car wash on my driveway. will stick the GK through the auto wash as well while running a few errands.
that is about all for today car wise besides watching YT vids on exhausts.

have a good saturday everyone.

Glad to see everyone is doing well. Nice looking cover there Mike410b!

Yeah week 1 of new job is done, so far so good.

Been on the look out for a new ride for the GF...237k on the hyundai...think its time. Leaning towards a Lexus IS200t/350 or a GS350.

Hopefully have time to wash the civic, been a bit. With this new commute though I've been getting 36mpg since its smooth non-traffic drive for 25 miles. Vs my previous job location which was 6 miles but grid lock and typically resulted in 29mpg.

Have a good one guys.

impressive miles shinjari. good to hear ur new job sounding like a good place to work.

yah is200’s are identically looking to the is350 so if she’s more into mpg i’d get the 200.

motored my WRX, got gas, and washed the ride. noticed the canadian made OE rear splash guards are peeling at the top (mounting tape) where it meets the bumper. was never a good fit from the get go. i fixed it for now using some VHB but i’m going to take them off in the spring. it looks okay but the fitment bugs me..might be okay for some but i don’t tolerate gaps.

so i verified that CRC maf cleaner does not remove automotive paint. i tested it while repairing the splash guard.

Thanks. I've been trying to find the right tune/balance and I think Im getting there.

As for her, considering the number of miles she drives I would personally think the 200t would make more sense...however she has only driven the 350 and loved the power...this was before the 200t existed. Well now the 200t is called the 300 for model year 2019...lol.

IS200T/IS300t = 2.0L 4-cyl turbo with 241hp/258tq 22/32/26 MPG (city/hwy/combined)
IS350 = 3.5L V6 311hp and 280tq 20/28/23 mpg
2010 BMW 328i = 6-cyl 230hp with 200tq 17/26/23 mpg (this is the bmw my aunt would sell us....only 50k miles on it, just dont know if i want BMW/german problems. granted it would be a cheaper base price than the lexus)

She figures the Lexus/BMW would be a better first impression as a realtor than a Hyundai. Think people associate a nice car with "oh she must sell a lot". Much like if I had a landscaper come out....he better be in a truck with equipment...not a Maserati lol.

As for the job so far so good. Stoked to get done with familiarization and training so I can start working on designing things. Also nice that the new company allows domestic partners to be on my benefits. GF and I don't plan to get married, but we've been together 10 years so yeah. Shes been paying $400+ just for medical, then another $100+ for dental and no vision. Adding her to my company benefits will be $100 a month for health/dental/vision. Basically save her $400+ which would be ideal for a car payment =).

Anyways, have a good weekend Ladies and Gents.

I'm sure it's different in CA, but all realtors drive sport ute's here. More interior room and more comfy for passengers. Tahoe's are the most popular, but I also see Toyota Sequoia's, Expeditions, Escalade's, etc. A few drive mid-size sport ute's, but I figure they are the ones starting out and not established yet. Principles all seem to drive full size.

The realtor I bought my house with drove a Camry. Her normal clients operate in the $600k to 2-3 million range.

The realtor I sold with had some sort of CUV, but he operates in cheaper housing, like mine was.

To be a big shot, Camry?

well it is true i pull up to my clients place in a sexy kia optima and sedona sometimes. LOL (rental cars). its good cause i dont leave an impression im ripping them off in gross profits. in my line of work most people at the office drive luxury cars and suv's. im the only one that shows up in a GK to the company xmas party. haha

"IS200T/IS300t = 2.0L 4-cyl turbo with 241hp/258tq 22/32/26 MPG (city/hwy/combined)"

hummmm... are those the AWD's numbers? if RWD that's a little thirsty for fuel..but then you are talking about a car that is near the end of its current gen life. that is about the same mpg as my WRX. usually on my weekend drives i come home with 29-30mpg showing on the obc. my commute nets about 26-28mpg usually. thing is so efficient vs my old GTI (and my STI) im pretty impressed. i hate going to get gas so the less pit stops i need to do, the better.

speaking of drives.. mang this am some faking pos garbage in a challenger spun out in the oncoming lane, crossed the center line and nearly collided into me going 50mph. wtf are with these stupid people driving RWD cars on frosty roads with summer/junk all season tires. cops should cite folks driving RWD cars with summer tires in the winter and have their cars towed home at the renter/owner's expense.

i swerved out of the way just in time in my WRX.. but it was pretty close.

i guess if image wasnt part of the deciding equation for your GF, that new velociter (sp?) appears to be in-line with a lot of the sport compacts of today. im sure in SD FWD-only is usually not much of a problem. thing can pull to 60 in like 5.5 sec according to caranddriver.. almost as fast as that GTI i had. actually my GTI would've hit mid-4 sec to 60 if the tires gripped. thing was fast on the hwy though.

got frost on the ground not sure how well my SportMaxx tires are going to grip so waiting for the sun to come out before pulling out my STI. i think next year i’m going to get dedicated AS tires for my STI to use in the winter if i’m inclined to drive her through the winter season. i forgot about frost even on dry days.

going to fill her up on the way home and QD when i get back. today is a lazy day. a few house chores and rest of day going to review snl since i fell asleep mid program. lol

have a good sunday everyone!

Yeah she was considering a Hyundai Tucson or Subaru Crosstek if she wasn't going to go Lexus route. Her client range starts in the 600k+ up to 2mil. It's such a weird profession. I can see peoples first impressions...but at the same time I agree with the logic of if she drives something 'modest' that shouldn't mean she isn't successful, but more along the lines of she is practical and manages her money.

She's pretty hesitant to get something that isn't a 'car' though. She likes being 'in' traffic. We will see.

As for MPG, I also figured the lexus would get better than the numbers posted. like at least mid 30s for hwy. And those are RWD #'s. Not really a 'need' for AWD here...although I'm sure it'd be nice.

Did some house stuff yesterday. Updating my sons room. He's 15...so time to bring down the legoes/star wars etc. Something more mature. New rug, bed sheets, painted etc. Turned out nice.

Today is a round of paintball with the friends for the annual Holiday Santa Vs Grinches event.

Have a good sunday everyone.

sounds like a fun weekend shinjari. dang i luvs my Lego’s. lol. i have a decent technic collection in my bedroom.

yah my buddy lives in LA and he drives a Q50RS RWD. no issue getting around for him. hell if i lived in socal i’d have a RWD car in my line up fosho. yah i’m okay with a realtor that drives a normal car. hell i’d be skeptical if some chick or guy came in on a denali and talked like some hotshot out of a movie. so fake
