Lol. Why do you say Rota> ESR? I'm kinda Rota more or less equal to ESR. Just my thought. Still both have to pass road worthy specs. If I have to pick between rotary forged vs cast, i'll do rotary forged, especially if cost is more or less the same. Gonna see what the tax refund brings (assuming the govt ever reopens) and then start looking at quotes locally and online.

From initial checks, the Rotas only come in the 18x9.5+38mm offset which I'm not really a fan of. They do also have 18x8.5 +44....but that's nearly stock offset...
ESR's seem more accessible and 18x8.5 +30mm is pretty perfect for my wants. Plus its rotary forged.

My thinking is just, Rota has been around a fair while, I don't trust these fly by night wheel companies that seem to pop up so often. I see a lot of 'forged' wheels that come out for super cheap prices and I just wonder....what sorts of alloys are you guys using?

Hey...I can see the logic behind that. Also never know who runs the new wheel companies...could be people that came from 'well known' brands who wanted to start their own thing. Who knows these days since you see that happen in other sectors so often.

Then again...since Rota is based in the Philippines...maybe I have a relative there that can 'hook me up' LOL.

Happy Friday!

The hope is nothing for sale these days is truly bad, right? I mean, we can so easily look up horror stories, though with new brands there may just not be enough wheels in circulation to have it build up.

Happy Friday!

Yes I saw that & the fact the tires were made in 1994 & are dry rotted. I still think it is a sweet car & will make nice hobby car for someone.

Happy Sunday ladies and gents. Was digging through photos and came across some of my 95 240sx. Basically was going for a clean look so I went with the Nismo 270R style body kit. Trusty 'HUGE' 17" 5zigen 5zr wheels in the wrong offset, I mean look at that wheel gap and what not. Then again there was infinite amounts of room in the wheel arches...
Did a 300zx front brake conversion, Injen intake, HKS exhaust, H&R Springs on Tockico blue struts, Front and rear strut bars and I think that was about it.

These pics were taken after some jerk rear ended me right above the exhaust so I had to repair and prime it...and some other genius backed into the front which forced me to replace my hood....hence the primer there too. Both guys gave me their "info" which turned out to be false. Fortunately I wrote down car make/model/plate and they were both military here in SD...so a quick call to their Command fixed that. Just hadn't gotten around to painting it. Sold the car before I did anyways.

Yeah, this was back in like 2003/04 I was 20-21ish. Funds were limited and I was just stoked to have what I had in general. In retrospect...I wouldve built it more or less the same given the circumstances, but coilovers and different wheels. I mean the H&R's lowered it nearly 2" all around...and I kept the proper tire diameter because I didn't want to mess with the odometer/MPH. Despite that, it still looks like it could drop another 2" lol.

I knew a guy who ran one of those in SCCA Pro Rally. His complaint was he couldn't get more wheel gap. ;~)

Nice car shijari.

Taking 2003/4 into consideration & that car holds up even better IMO.

Here are 3/4 of my wheel sets.

Yeah I was trying to keep things clean and simple. None of that F&F crazy body kits, tried and true 5 spokes you know like the Tenzo's or 5zigens or CR Harts? Thanks for the complimenting my thought process/decisions from 15 years ago haha.

Speaking of wheels that pile looks great Mike410b! I didnt realize the Keutzer's spokes went to the lip like that and there was a continuous lip underneath the spokes that is super neat. I thought it was more like the wheels on the left where the spokes interrupted the lip. SO wait....are those the advans on the right? No tires? I'm confused.

I'm just here to compliment folks haha

Thanks dude! Yeah, the wheel design is a good way to guarantee big damage upon curbing (a couple of them are ROUGH) but I also think its super neat. Yep, those are the advans on the right, I've got tire covers on them, the Azenis are still on them. The CP035 are still around too, they're in storage at my parent's with the car.

What are the wheels on the left? Left to right _____, Work Keutzers, Advans?

Just sent out requests for quotes from a couple local and non local wheel/tire places. Also emailed ESR to get weights on the wheels. Debating on sticking with 18s (reuse my OEM tires), get 18's + Firehawk Indy 500s or go 19's + Firehawk Indy 500s. Seems the wheels go ~$240/ea for 18s, $270 for 19's. Tires are $150 for 235/40/18 and $180 for 235/35/19. So not this huge price delta, just not sure I wanna sacrifice sidewall aka ride comfort.

Happy Monday!

Left are Weds Sport TC005, 17x9 +42, just a couple mm more aggressive than the RGIII. Oh and Yokohama Kreutzers, they're Advans.

I'd stay with 18's, to preserve comfort.

My thoughts exactly. May still just get new tires as well to get a bundle and not have to worry about swapping tires.

Ahhh they are Yokohama/Advans. Nice. How do you decide what to ride on? so many choices haha.

That's exactly what I'd do. Keep stock w/ stock & new stuff on the new wheels.

Easy decisions haha. The Kreutzer are the only wheels for the Fit, so bingo bango, April - November they'll be on that car.

The Advans, Weds and CP035 are for the S2000. The Advans are on that car most of the time & probably always will be. The CP035 are my favorite wheel on the car but are not known for their durability, so those will just go on whenever I want the car at its absolute best (once I complete the set, I still need one more wheel). The Weds were just too good a deal to pass up, I have no idea when I'll actually use them haha. I also want to buy a pair of 18x10 +45 Blitz Z2, I think those would look WILD on the back with CP035 up front. But finding a pair of those is tough to say the least.

Ah ok. The logic/plan is making sense now haha. Good luck on your search for that 4th wheel and those Blitz Z2s would be pretty gnarly.

Leaning towards the ESR's in Hyper Black 18x8.5+30 (~21lbs) with FireHawk Indy 500s. Saves me ~9-10lbs per corner and should improve the handling with a more performance based tire over the tires on the car now.

I think you'd be pretty happy with that setup, is your other half cool with it?

And thanks man! Hopefully it all works out.

Gonna have to bring that up to her at some point. I'm sure I'll have a compelling argument since I've been saving for them since I got the car. At the same time I don't need them NOW NOW but its good to have a plan. I've been funding all the house projects and entertainment...so I need to do something 'fun' for me. Granted she'd say "we can use that $ to go travel....your wheels and tires are perfectly fine". Yeah both valid, but I have travel funds lined up for us so that's that haha.
