New to Fit's but not Honda's
Whats up Guy's & Gal's!
My name is Jesse. I'm 30 years old. A couple of months ago I traded in my gas guzzling, oil leaking 2007 BMW X3 for my first Fit! It's a 2012 Sport model with 60k miles. So far i love this little car. It's pretty fun to drive for a daily. My only complaint was for some odd reason i was only getting roughly 25-29 mpg. I thought it seemed a little low. I was mostly doing city driving with some occasional highway. I had a feeling something wasn't right. About a month ago i received the news that my job was closing, and relocating to Arizona! I was asked to go, and accepted the offer! I figured this would be a good time to do some maintenance on the Fit before the cross country trip. 2 day ago(07/05/17) i started the prep work on the car by having the wheels & tires balanced. Yesterday i got to work on changing the oil, and trans fluid. Right off the bat as i was going to remove the oil filter i realized there was a tiny Subaru oil filter on there??. Also, while the oil was draining i realized it was super black! Looked like it hadn't been changed in a while. To top it off i had this strong suspicion that they put the wrong viscosity of oil in the motor:mad::mad:. Then thought to myself maybe this explains the poor mpg's. I replaced the incorrect Subaru filter with a OEM Honda filter(-A02 Honeywell) and poured in some Mobil1 0W-20. Also filled the trans with some fresh Honda ATF. With that in mind, and since i was close to E i went to fuel up. Ran some errands, and went over to the Honda dealer to get an alignment. Oddly enough i was right. I'm now averaging 33-37 mpg. Just in time for the long road trip! We'll be leaving early Sunday morning 07/09/17. I'll be posting some updates as we go! Onto the pics! My 2012 Fit! Got to finally see the new CTR while i was waiting for my alignment this morning. Here's my 94 Integra RS that's currently on the back burner due to the big move. |
welcome and your pics dont work

Welcome
Welcome to the Forum & congrats on your Fit! In Arizozna, you're going to need a sunshade for sure! Best of luck to you on your trip!:)

Welcome and congrats, I have the same model Fit and I love it. Mine is Milano Red though.
Also congrats on the new job opportunity! |
Congrats on the new fit and that is a great looking RS!

Nice! Looks to be in great condition! I also have the same model year and color. If you don't mind me asking, around how much did your fit cost?
Also, I do entirely city driving so I only get 27-30mpg. (I can sometimes hit 40mpg on good highway trips though) Have also had engine and trans oil changed. Do you know if the alignment helped your mpg? That's one thing I haven't done. |
the fit is only toe adjustable on the front in factory form. if you're not getting odd tire wear you're probably fine.

Go back to the dealer youbought it from and explain your story. Send the oil filter (the 12a Subaru filter) out for a test to see what weight the oil was. Explain that this could've possibly shortened the life of your fit. Get some money out of it or at least make them pay for a extended warranty

the oem subaru filter is high quality stuff. i use it on my STI. if it's good for a STI its 150% fine for your NA fit imho. they are interchangeable parts. i also run mobil1 and kn filters which are all compatible with my subaru and hondas also when i had my nissans.
