Problem with radio after installing Aux audio

So, I finally got around to installing an Aux audio gizmo on my G1 2008 Fit (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Car-Auto-Audio-MP3-Player-Interface-Aux-In-Adapter-Cable-Fit-for-Honda-2-4-AUX-Audio-Adapter-3-5mm/369133341).

The problem is I've been having randomly awful FM radio reception afterward. I can pull into the parking lot with a clear signal, spend ten minutes in the store, and come back to nothing but buzzing and whistling on the exact same channel. The upside here is that should remove factors like weather and location from the troubleshooting equation.

I wondered if the new aux wire was acting as some random antenna, so I tried plugging my phone in just to see what it does. Sometimes it seems to clear things up a tiny bit, but I could very well be imagining it.

I guess another possibility is I could've pulled the antenna cable out of its plug somehow, but I can't imagine I was that rough with the radio console while I was installing it. And besides, those things are clipped in pretty well as far as I can tell.

So, what the heck is going on here? Has anyone else had this kind of trouble before?

poor fm reception

I had the problem for a long Time with my 2008 fit. Tried new aerial, and tightened the aerial connections. None of this worked to repair the weak and staticky fm reception in certain areas around town. After replacing the alternator because "it was charging too much??" and then replacing the battery because it did not hold a charge, the reception is now perfect???
