Headlights to low
When driving at night, I find that the light glow not enough far away from the car (about 50 feet). When driving at 50mph it cause a problem if an animal or something else cross the road so I've to use high beams all the time. How do you find the headlights setting ?

so nobody agree that the headlights doesn't lights far away ?

headlights
why does my head light on my honda fit dip when im driving? anyone have a solution to this please message me please..
|
Because you are driving a car with a short wheelbase which makes the angle of the car raise and fall more steeply than a car with a more standard longer wheelbase going thru bumps and dips, causing the lights to point up and down more than on other cars.

Headlight Adjustment (its a must!!!!)
Hey.
After driving 600+ miles, I concluded the the lights had to be adjusted.;) So I poped open the hood, looked around, and saw a grey 1.25 inch circle. It had a little hexagon nut in the middle. Maybe 9mm, 10mm. I figured that had to be the adjustment nut. It was:) . It took a little while I had a tiny open end wrench. But I got it. WOW what a difference!!!:D. Now i can see everything. Before the light stoped at 80-90 feet. Not Good. Now everything is lit up.. No one flashed me back. It was pitch black in Upper westchester NY. I am a little surprised Honda, set the lights the way they did. The dealer mechanics ar full of crap, if they say you dont need to adjust it, YOU DO!. It goes to show how lazy/stupid they are. Even at Honda. I bet Honda recalls this, very minor problem. So get off your butt, and adjust, and you will bevery happy:cool: . |
Wooow! I think I should do it too! How many turns on the nut ?
|
hmmm. is that why people flash their highbeams at me?
|
Did you happen to notice which way is up and down for clockwise/counterclockwise?
|
which way
I have a same question? whice way of turn is to adjust the headlight higher? Let go this way when I open the hood am I 'm facing to the headlight. then turn left or turn right? for both side?
|
I am surprised that the US Fit does not have the electric headlight adjustment that is fitted to all UK and European Jazzs. Just turn the dial and the headlights move up or down to suit. That way if you have heavy loads in the back you can adjust the aim so that you are not blinding oncoming motorists.
This particular item is standard on nearly all cars sold in Europe. |
The Fit will stay level even if heavy load in back so we don't need to adjust lights.
|
I had to turn in a lot, it was a little hard getting the open end wrentch in there. I believe itwas clockwise. Im sure there is an easier way to get to the nut from below.
I suggest to do it at dusk so you can see the lights raise. put the lights on. I did against my house. Then when you start turning it, you will see the lights slowly rise. No one has flashed me. |

When you put a heavy load in the back it applies more force to the rear wheels than the front ones. The further back the load the greater the difference (simple mechanics). The springs in the rear then sink more than the springs in the front, thus changing the angle of the car relative to the road, and therefore the angle of the headlights. It may not happen to the same extent as with other american cars with softer suspension but it still happens, and it is enough to dazzle the people in front. Several people on this forum have complained about their lights being too high, or too low. Electric adjustment allows you to move them from the comfort of your driving seat to suit the load distribution you have in the car. I wouldn't be without it. |

You guys in the UK and Europe get all the goodies! ;) I had no idea electronic headlight adjustment was a common feature. Pretty cool.
