LED cargo light wiring help.
 

Ok, before i start i want to say that i did search for some info on this, but had not found anything specific, but if you know where to find it and can direct me if would be helpful. (and im sorry if i have cut into your valuable internet browsing time.)

I have 2 12v flexible LED light strips. i'm looking to hook them up so that when i open the hatch they will come on. (or any door is fine to.)

I have seen the footwell diy's, but i don't want to run the wires all the way up there if i don't have to. I really don't want to take the headliner out either.

the existing hatch light wires can power your LED strips most likely without having to run wires all over the place. at the very least find out where the correct switched source is under the dash rather than run wires up to the actual dome light.

Y dont u just tap into the existing cargo light wiring?

Unless you're putting the light strip somewhere other than the trunk, just do what xonexlifex suggested, use existing cargo light harness and tap.

^^rep'd^^ Ive wanted to get lights under the car cover but never thought about using a usb connector. Great Idea!

Hey Zalthras, do you have any more info on that USB Connector? I'd love to put this into use on a few spots in my car

I don't remember exactly cause I have too many types of logitech mice, but I think it was a USB extension from my Logitech Performance Mouse MX.

How did you get the 14.2 volts in the car down to the 5.0 volts for the USB commector?

I'm not using the USB connector as a USB device port. I cut up the wires and tapped into the OEM cargo lights to use the USB connector as a power connector for the 12v cargo tray LEDs that I added.

Hi, sorry to raise an older thread from the dead. I was wondering if Zalthras or anyone else could give a little bit more detailed instructions for wiring up a 12v power source off the cargo light wiring. I'm retarded when it comes to wiring, but I can follow step-by-step instructions well. I'd like to install some more lighting in the cargo area.

A) Trim removal
Cargo Floor
Rear Trim Panel (trunk hatch sill cover under where the spare tire tools sit)

Hey does anyone know what is immediately behind the hump part of the interior sheet metal shown in this pic? I looked in the fender on that side it appears that the fuel piping travels outside the car would about 1/2" of screw going into the raised hump hit anything? The part I'm specifically talking about is the rectangle reflection in the center of the pic

I'm trying to install the cargo light because my Honda fit didn't come with one but the wire was already there. The problem is that I have a pink and yellow wire and when I'm connecting the build it isn't working. The build and circuit are correct because I check them. Fron the wires but there isn't one that has a 12v.
can some one help please?
