US Headlight assemblies WITHOUT an inside color?
The insides of my headlights match the body color of the car. Are headlamp assemblies available with no color? Alternatively, is it possible to disassemble the USDM headlamps and strip off the color?
Thanks! |
My headlamps are chrome all around, unlike the body-colored (yours) or black (Japan) shrouds other countries have.
Since the reflector dish itself is chrome, the whole headlight unit looks like it's just one color. |
....but would those assemblies work on a USDM model?
|
USDM will not fit JDM/EUDM bodies..

Your Fit is USDM? I thought you were in Switzerland? |
Yes, I know that USDM bodies and EU bodies will not interchange. I have a USDM Fit in Switzerland. Long story. The color inside the housing isn't legal here.

what color do you have? maybe one of us can do a swap

Blaze orange. Have they ever made any colorless ones?

anyway, the GE (2009-present) come without color (less the silver/chrome and reflective yellow stripe) http://www.blogcdn.com/green.autoblo...ort-lead-1.jpg http://www.roadfly.com/new-cars/wp-c...-fit-sport.jpg |
from the sound of it i think he has a GD
|
It's a GD, not the new model.

No you cannot buy it without any color (like chrome or whatnot). You COULD buy the stock ones from a nighthawk black pearl so they are black inside. Other then that, what you could do is bake your headlights open, removing the colored housing, painting them yourself (or taking it to a chrome plating shop to get them chromed out) and putting it back together. That's probably your cheapest option.

Thanks Kevin. You say "bake them open" -- Is this something that people have actually done to their Fit headlamps? Any instructions or advice on this?
