No low beam, DRL + High beams work
Was going out earlier to get some more cigarettes at 7-11 and i noticed that my lights were too yellow. so i looked and it seems that only the fogs are on when i turn on the lights. i flip it off, and the DRLs turn on. i flip on the high beams and they work no problem.
I'm using Sylvania Twin Silverstar Ultra HB2s. I've read that they have a pretty short life. I bought the pair around August 2012. What do you guys think is wrong? I hope i just need to replace the bulbs and not a damn fuse or even worse a relay. It's too dark to check under the hood and try to replace it with the OEM bulbs, which I'll try tomorrow. |
My silverstars worked for all of 2 months
The DRL circuit puts out too low of a voltage to maintain proper bulb life. That is why honda stuck extended long life bulbs in there. Replace the bulbs, and remove the DRL fuse. Make sure you still turn your low beams on during low visibility hours (early morning, late afternoon) |
Suspicious both would fail at the same time, not sure if it's the bulbs.
Try the OEM bulbs first like you said, report back. |
couldn't wait til the morning, dug out the OEM bulbs and put them in. both work fine now. the sylvanias are burnt crispy. i ordered a pair of phillips extreme vision. i know another short lasting bulb, considering the sylvanias last more than a year, not so bad.

Wow, that is interesting to say the least but good that was it. A year or so is about the life of those Silverstars from my experience so I suppose it was about time anyway.
Let us know how the Extreme Vision are on the Fit, I had those in the running when I was choosing bulbs myself. |
