Easy-Peasy 48-LED panel upgrades for roof & trunk

We've had modest success with our upgrades so far but this one easily produced the best results for very little effort.

We got a pack of 5 of these 48-led panels from eBay for around $10, delivered. Each one comes with adapters to hook into the various bulb connectors you'd find around most cars (festoon, etc.). Each panel also has two-sided foam tape, so you can peal and stick it to a surface if desired.

In the case of the roof light, the foam actually made the panel too thick for the light cover to snap closed again, but it worked just fine after I removed the backing and replaced it with electrical tape. I'd say the roof light is now about twice as bright as what came stock.

In the trunk area, I wound up using the peal & stick backing to attach the panel to the *outside* of the existing light and then ran the wires around the side of the light. For some reason the same connector that worked in the roof slot wouldn't fit correctly into the slot in the trunk light, so I wound up twisting the wires directly onto the bulb socket. The trunk light is about 3x brighter than it was (even though it's the same as the roof panel) because of the panel's position outside the light. The panel seems very durable, so I'm not concerned about it getting bumped or anything like that.

I didn't bother upgrading the map lights because I figured if I'm using those ones, I might not want them too bright (if someone was, say, driving at the time). But the overhead and trunk lights would mostly be used when the car was stationary so brighter seems much better.

(Note that these LED panels are too big for the map lights anyway.)

I've got 3 panels left... maybe I'll add them to the front floor, and one more on the right side of the trunk (though as you can see, it's already pretty bright and it's not like I'll be reading a book back there). :-)
