Adding USB to 2010 Fit base

I've been trying to find out if I could add the USB adapter that the upgraded or sport versions have but didn't for base. I see the cables for sale on ebay but they don't specify if that's all I would need. It seems short too. Is there a male plug somewhere behind the glove compartment that this female end can plug into or is there more needed for this install?

So you didn't say exactly what you're trying to do. If you need to connect your phone to the stereo, you can buy a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the back of the stereo and uses the aux button. That will also have a microphone that you'll have to snake up behind the sun visors under the headliner. I bought one in 2014 (link below) And it's been working great ever since. It really makes the car feel much newer.

If you were just looking to plug your phone in and get power, there are lots of USB adapters and cables out there. I just upgraded to USB-C so it's supposed to charge better. Does it? Maybe. But the one I bought doesn't like to stay in the outlet. Anyway good luck

Years ago I bought a used OEM USB module and cable from eBay or an online junk yard. I don't recall specifically. I didn't have the mounts but the installation was simple to do. I pulled the radio. The antenna plugs into the USB unit as well as some of the other wires. There are wires out to the USB unit that plug into the radio. It was all factory. No modifications. Since I didn't have the metal bracket to screw the unit in, I put a small shop rag between the USB module and the radio and wrapped a zip tie or two to hold it. The only modification I had to make was to the glove box where I cut the hole for the USB cable. It's been working like a champ for about 9(?) years now.

The installation went much faster than I had thought it would be and because I used OEM parts, it was easy peasy.
