This is where I mount my 2-channel Amp. I hope it helps.
The Amp is hidden between the back of the back seat and the box. |
yeah i kinda dont want that how the sub takes up half the trunk
|
Here's what I've done....
4 Channel amp under the front seat. Sub amp under the bottom of the magic seat. Custom fabricated box in the hatch area. http://img372.imageshack.us/my.php?i...8140009kk6.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/my.php?i...8140012je8.jpg http://img237.imageshack.us/my.php?i...8140005ig6.jpg |
dude!! That is awesome, the though of under the rear bottom of magic seat didnt even come across my mind. and that enclosure is badass. I like it cause you dont have to remove spare tire.

The seat functions as normal. There are very few amps that the seat will accomodate and still fold down without binding. The alpine PDX series is one. JL makes one that will work along with Sony.

wait wait wait.... so ur telling me that alpine amp fits under the seats even when the seats are folded down for utility mode?! I wanna see a picture of that!! Did u just screw it into the back of the plastic or did u use special mounting techniques cuz the amp is fighting gravity. i've been lookin for something like that for my new amp/sub combo. If it does really still fold down, ima place an order right now for one!
I used sheet rock screws and went directly into the plastic at all 4 corners of the amp. Everything is held on solid and tight. Gravity is no issue. http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/1120/p8140013yw4.jpg http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/121/p9190003bj5.jpg http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/1999/p9190001rf1.jpg https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/%5BU...5D%20%5BURL=ht https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/%5BU...G%5D%5B/URL%5D https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/%5BU...G%5D%5B/URL%5D |
utility mode is when you lower the seat back cushion so it sits on the floor and so u have a huge cargo area. Like this:
http://www.cartalkcanada.com/images/...fit_0009-1.jpg It looks good at how tall mode and regular seating works good, but i don't think it'll work in utility mode without the amp hitting the floor. |
this is a serious question please dont flame me. but if u sit on the back seat on the side with the amp does by chance any of the screws go in your butt.. sorry if it sounds offensive but its a serious question wanna find a good place to mount the 4 ch. amp.
|
i might have to look into that my 2ch amp is small enough to go under the magic seat
the next things is finding time to fiberglass a box |

Use the shortest drywall screws you can find. They grab nicely and there's no need to go to much further beyond the plastic.:) |
