Homelink - Wired to immobilizer???
One of these days I'm gonna buy a homelink module off of ebay and put it up in my headliner. I have heard about peoples' cars being broken into and then the thieves open the garage with the homelink in the car.
If I were to wire the homelink module to a power source that's only on when the key is in the ignition, would that be sufficient to protect this from happening? Or would any decent thief be able to hot-wire the car anyway, and then they'd be able to use the homelink, too? Should I not bother? Do most of those modules need constant power in order to remember your settings? |
I have the Odyssey homelink (the same as the TL I believe) and it does remember the settings after removing the power source. You could wire to a switched lead, but if someone really wanted to get into your garage they can just rip out the homelink and tap it directly to your battery.
