Detailed: Josh's Turbo GD3
51 Attachment(s)
Well guys I was scheduled to detail his car a couple months back but as most of you now by now he blew his engine days before the detail. That caused the most epic build in all of fitfreak history. Here is his journey :wavey:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...o-booooom.html https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...ld-thread.html Here is the latest thread about his dyno. Only 180whp on only 10lbs and not going past 4500rpm. He is easily pushing 200+ https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...goes-dyno.html Now all he needed was fresh clean paint to go with that new engine. Thats where I came in. :wavey: When it arrived. Car was FILTHY. Understandibly so though. When he blew his engine his car was covered in oil and he was only able to rinse it off hours later. Not to mention the long drives hes had to get this thing tuned and all of the dirty hands that have been all over it. Attachment 63918 Attachment 63919 Attachment 63920 Attachment 63921 Attachment 63922 Attachment 63923 Attachment 63924 Attachment 63925 Attachment 63926 Attachment 63927 Attachment 63928 Attachment 63929 Started by cleaning wheels with P21s gel. Left to sit for about 5 minutes. That alone got most of the grime out. Attachment 63930 Cleaned wheels. Attachment 63931 Using my foam gun to pre-soak the car with a strong paint cleansing soap. Attachment 63932 Attachment 63933 Attachment 63934 Attachment 63935 Also removed license plate to clean paint underneath Attachment 63936 Used my swissvax brush to get into tight areas Attachment 63937 After letting the foam dwell for about 10 minutes I rinsed it off and began washing it using the 2 bucket method. Also clayed the car using the foam gun. Dried using my 265mph leaf blower. Attachment 63938 Here are pics after the wash and clay. Attachment 63939 Attachment 63940 And this is why using 2 buckets is a MUST. Here is the my rinse bucket after the wash. This was once clean fresh water. By using only 1 bucket you wouldve rubbed all of this dirt right back onto your paint. Attachment 63941 Tucked away in the garage to make it look even better. Attachment 63942 Started polishing. Used my porter cable and a 4" orange pad. Attachment 63943 Before/Afters of door sills Attachment 63944 Attachment 63945 Attachment 63946 Attachment 63947 Attachment 63948 Attachment 63949 Attachment 63950 Finally, about 6 hours later. 2 coats of Meguiars #21, 1 coat of Meguiars #26, some optimum spray wax and FK quick detailer we get this. Who says white cars dont have good reflections? :rotfl: Attachment 63951 Attachment 63952 Attachment 63953 Attachment 63954 Out in the sun Attachment 63955 Attachment 63956 Attachment 63957 Attachment 63958 Attachment 63959 Attachment 63960 Attachment 63961 Attachment 63962 Attachment 63963 Attachment 63964 Attachment 63965 Attachment 63966 Attachment 63967 Nobody does it like Orlando Attachment 63968 :D |

The car had very minor swirling, and since it was white it was impossible to get a pictures of it. I used menzerna p203s one an orange pad as a one step.

Danm qb! I'm definately going to take up your offer on the detail. I'll bring the whole Miami crew up so we can all chill and stuff too ;)
And Britt, I'm scared too that the detail would just be wasted on the way back home. But I think I'm willing to tape up as much of the car as I need too :P Lets do this!!! |

i have a question! what's a good way to get rid of swirl marks for cheap? i've heard meguiar's ultimate compound is some good stuff is that true?
|
Ultimate compound is pretty good, but if your not careful this is what can happen.
Ultimate Compound messed up my paint - Car Care Forums: Meguiar's Online I recommend something more milder like swirlx and a couple foam pads. Dont use your fingertips but rather the palm of your hand so you can apply even pressure and not cause fingertip marring. Always make sure you clay before using any kind of polish. Polish wont remove the bonded contaminants that a clay bar will. Ultimate compound is pretty aggressive for Honda paint and youll need to follow with a milder polish to remove the hazing that a compound leaves behind. No matter what though you wont remove as much swirls as you would by using a porter cable. Its really hard to create the friction and heat necessary to activate the polish and level the clear coat by hand. |
