Detailed her car about a week ago but couldnt get after pictures as I worked through the night. She just sent me some decent after pictures as it literally hasnt stopped raining since last sunday.

Car was in pretty rough shape but not too bad overall. Just really dirty considering the drive from miami.

Looks sexy! What did you use? I detailed my car for the first time ever today and it took 4 hours, just for exterior/interior, not counting wheels/windows/doorjambs. I used ICE Total Interior Care spray ($10), Mothers Claybar kit ($20), ICE polish, then Mothers Carnauba wax. It got dark as hell by the time I finished, but I can't wait to show you pictures in the morning!!!

Well I do a different kind of detailing. Its not just wash and wax. This is a full paint correction that took me about 8 hours. Involves using a porter cable and various pads and polishes. Heres my procedure though.

Washed car using 2 bucket method and poorboys world super slick and suds. After the wash I sprayed FK #1119 paint decontamination spray over the entire car and let it soak for about 20 minutes. After that I rinsed it off and washed it again with super slick and suds. Used P21 wheel gel for the wheels and optimum power clean for tires and other various heavily soiled areas like around the wheel wells.

After that it was dried using my 265mph leaf blower and put into the garage. Clayed using zaino Z18 and optimum quick detailer as clay lube. After that was done I did an isopropyl alcohol wipedown to remove any oils/water to get down to the bare paint.

For polish I used a 4" white pad and menzerna 106fa which is a very mild polish but will do just fine for Honda paint. After several hours of polishing I wiped it down with menzerna final inspection to make sure all the swirls and hazing were gone. Started adding the protection with duragloss aquawax (my new favorite product). Let that cure and added M21 meguiars synthetic sealant, then some optimum car wax. And after everything cured I gave the car a final wipedown with FK #425 quick detailer to remove any wax that was left and give the paint some more gloss and slickness.

Used stoners invisible glass for the windows and adams VRT for the tires and trim. Cleaned door jambs with meguiars ultimate quick detailer. Used rejex to seal the wheels.

Didnt do an interior detail on this one.

holy shit that's in-depth. What I did just sucks now. I should've added another coat of wax. All I have over the clearcoat is polish and wax. Is my paint gonna be screwed? It looked fine, a lot better. Totally smooth and very very few visible scratches.

Your paints fine lol. Your doing more than what some other people are doing so your in good shape. As for polish, you dont have polish on your paint. Polish is an abrasive, I guess it can be described like liquid sandpaper. It will shave off a microscopic layer of clearcoat which will remove swirls and minor scratches in the clear coat. The polish diminishes after it cuts so of course it will remove any protection. You should always have 2 coats of wax just to ensure coverage mainly. Always let a coat cure before applying the next one.

Wash it before you put on the other coat. If the car has even the tiniest amount of dirt when you put on the wax youll just be rubbing all that dirt into your paint causing swirls.

Damn QB great work man! I finally got off my ass and washed mine...errr...well got off my ass and drove it to Images to have them wash it. Same difference though. Really great work on that car though!

Wow, what a difference. I really need to get a good detail. The poor fit is a dirt magnet, and the paint is super thin already :(

I think I wanna get into this detailing business. It's super-satisfying. My roof and tailgate were SO bumpy and now smooth and swirl/scratch-free, it reminds me of the day I bought it, except with all the mods. I'm gonna start doing what you do, up here in NJ lol :)

Its very addicting lol I got started by having my car done and just watching.
