Pic Request. GD3 on Tein S-techs with 17's

Can anyone help? Post pics of your GD3 lowered on s-tech springs with 17's. If you could also chime in about any rubbing or issues you had with this set up.

what size tire are u running and whats the offset with the wheel. i had 17's on my k sport coilovers and i had to roll the fenders for it to not rub. it only rubbed on big bumps.

Manga_spawn Jul 14, 2011 01:44 PM

They are 17x7 +42 offset and the tire size is 205/40/17 (I think I will confirm tonight).

I think they will be fine and only rub alittle when we get new tires.

Bthasht Jul 14, 2011 01:45 PM

On teins with 17s you will rub. Will require rolling fenders, cutting out portion of front liner, cutting rear bumper tabs, and zip tie rear bumper up. Offset is key. Im on tein with 16x7 +40 offset. 250/40 tires. I have no rubs and could run 17s with same tire specs no problem. I also have all the above mods done. Really is not as bad as it sounds. Rolling all four fenders $150. Cutting liner with dremel $0. Cutting tabs in rear with dremel $0. Zip tie bumper-drill two holes each side and zip tie $0. Assuming you have a dremel and drill of course.

Was the issue in the front or back or both? I am kinda suspecting the rear to be the issue.

Previc93 Jul 14, 2011 02:21 PM

both. fronts on turns and rears on big bumps. i sold those 17s and went to 16s but im running a 205/45/16 which is about the same diameter as 205/40/17. i rolled all fenders. and the rears i heard everyone did the zip tip thing but i rolled the fender with the screw in the bumper and it worked just fine. its a little hard to get the screw in and out now but ill probably be doing the zip tie thing next time i take my rear bumper off.

like i said before let me know whenever u want to go to the pavs and u and ur gf can check my car out so u see what potential it has. recently its been too hot so i havent really went but if u give me a heads up ill be out there.

I have all these tools but I would really like to avoid going this crazy on the car. Plus once I get it rolled and aligned and everything this adds up quick and it would just make more sense to save and buy full blow coilovers. I have a great oprice on the springs and I may just put them on to test them out for a few weeks and see how it goes. After that if it rubs really bad or sucks I will take them off and go back to stock.

Name: sd_mr_Fit
Wheel: advan rg
Size: 17x6.5
Offset: +45
Colour: gold
Tire: r- BFGoodrich G-Force Sport f-sumitomos
Size: 205/40/17
Lowered?: Yes
If Yes, What Setup?: tein s-techs
Front Rubbing: yes
Rear Rubbing: No
Comments: rubbing only in the front left because i have not bend or have taken out the fender lining. it only rubbs on the clips that hold the fender lining on. and only rubbs when doing a u turn. other then that no rubbing.

Name: StickshiftFreak
Wheel: Motegi MR12
Size: 17x7
Offset: +40
Color: Silver
Tire: Kumho Ecsta AST
Size: 215/40/17
Lowered?: No
If Yes, What Setup?:
Front Rubbing: Yes
Rear Rubbing: Yes
Comments: Relocating front fender liner to above front fender lip eliminated front rubbing. Filing down about 1/4 inch of inside corner of rear bumper mounts fixed 90% of rubbing in rear, now just needs SLIGHT fender roll to eliminate the rest.

Perfect! The offset on our wheels is in the middle so it may just work. I will report my findings when I do it.

SD_MR_FIT Jul 14, 2011 08:35 PM

hmm..if i remember correctly you will rub in the front and not in the back.
just do the fender lining pull trick in the front and roll the back and you should be fine. do not go any beefier with the tire though.

SD_MR_FIT Jul 14, 2011 08:37 PM

and that picture it was cut 2 coils in the rear i think aswell. yup. good luck!

fitster Jul 14, 2011 09:03 PM

im running spoon springs
with 17x7.5 with 205/40/17

all u have to do is remove the fender clip in the front wheel wells and all rubbing problems will be solved
