gawa's 2014 project || GD fit undergoing jdm swap

Since I tend to make a new thread every year, I'll continue the tradition a for 2014, though a bit earlier.

Previous years:
2013
2012
2011
2010
2009

Please excuse the rat's nest of wiring and messy garage.
Started dismantling the car a bit more tonight, test fit the jdm headlights with the bracket. I'm not sure if the other guys that have jdm swapped had to do this, but it didn't seem like my headlight/bumper bracket fit properly so I dremel'ed a piece off.

This is the issue I had. The jdm bracket would hit the top of the mounting point. Did anyone with a jdm swap have to do this as well?

Took off the rebars as well and called it a night.

every year? Nice, look forward to seeing the end result since it was already perfect to begin with.

Dope Stuff. Love the build buddy!

These kind of threads really makes you feel good about owning a Fit knowing that someone likes their ride so much that they continue to mod it even after more then 5 years of ownership. Decided on a color change or is that still up in the air? Look forward to 2014 to see the end result. Keep up the good work.

Might be a slow process, I don't have most of the parts at the moment lol.

I just get bored easily, and it feels like I can't part with the car anymore. I'm still keeping it the same blue~green colour for next year. Saves me a bit of money cause only half the car needs to be wrapped.

Still is unusual most people when they get bored get rid of their car not change it, disposable society. Color is great.

Looks like a good start. Subscribed always like your threads.

Why didnt you put the jdm core support on? makes the swap oh so much easier. If you dont like waiting, you can get the core support from mexico. the bumper rebar will not work though. you need the jdm one(why they are diff, i cant tell you)

True. I've thought about switching cars before but I feel like I've sunk too much into this one, can't part out/let it go.

I don't have a way to get one from Mexico. lol
If I don't need the jdm core support to do the swap, I'd rather save the money and make the usdm one work.
For the rebar, I haven't decided whether I'll buy a jdm one or get something fabbed up like felixy69:

Yes! I was hoping this is what was next!

Gawa are you keeping the same color wrap or looking at a different color? You don't have to divulge the new color, just curious.

I miss the houndstooth

I would suggest the core support and no rebar. Core support is just much cleaner than hacking the current one. The rebar does not fit as I tried it. It was weird. So basically I wasted money there. What I used was an easy custom bar that can be fabbed.

What do you need to hack the usdm core support for? Does the bumper not fit? I know the usdm hood latch needs to be modified to work with the jdm hood, but I plan on ditching the hood latch and run aerocatch pins.

BlueCell Nov 3, 2013 12:32 AM

The latch will need to be cut off no matter what. Are you going to run an aftermarket hood?

I see. Thanks for the pics!
And yes, going to run an aftermarket hood.

BlueCell Nov 3, 2013 12:40 AM

One more thing, your intercooler will need to be moved as close as possible to the radiator or any JDM bumper will not fit.

In comparison. Notice JDM rad support goes inside more
