Hello, my name is Pablo, i'm from Iquique, Chile and i own a Honda Fit 1.5S 4WD 2005, imported from Japan directly, since april 2013, and i bought it with 57.000km in odometer, now it has 63.000km. I found this forum searching for a guide to replace spark plugs (this one)

Since here in Chile we can't drive with the steering wheel at the right side, it was converted to the left side.

Wow, haven't seen a 4WD Fit on here. Pretty damn cool, I wish we could have an AWD system.

You have like the most loaded model, and auto AC is awesome.

 

almost the most loeaded model, it doesn't have smart key and fog lights (anyway i don't like how this version of the fit looks with fog lights), sadly 4WD models doesn't exist with manual transmission, instead it has the same CVT transmission with 7 speed mode than the 2WD version with L15A engine.

The car is taller (i don't know how to say that is less near to the floor) because of the 4WD system.

 

Could you snap a picture of underneath the rear? Id like to see what honda did for the rear axle. Online diagrams only show so much...

Im just wondering how they fit a narrowed Dana 70 under the back! Guess the pics will show how!

I would like to see the setup too. If you can, please post a few pics of the rear driveshaft and transfer case too.

 

Man that is a unique model especially what you needed to do to convert it. How much did that all that cost. If you don't mind me by asking. I am from Chile as well I have family Valparaiso

sorry for no answer this thread before, as you may know, there was an earthquake at my city (Iquique) on april 1st, so i almost forgot everything that i was doing during that time, but today i remembered this thread because my car went to maintenance of brakes, and i take the picture of underneath (the rear part)



for the other questions:

- GD4 apparently are for 1st gen Fit 4WD only
- The car cost like US $3.300 and the steering conversion (RHD to LHD) cost like US $730

Be safe out there. We are currently battling fires out here in San Diego, CA. The 4WD system is awesome. I wonder how it handles compared to the 2WD system for road race or AutoX.

A used AWD GD4 Fit straight off the boat feom Japan for only $3300USD?! I know where I'm buying a one-way plane ticket and then driving back up to the Ubited States from!

 

i know, that's very sad, i heard the news of that fire because Blink-182's Tom Delonge posted some photos and videos in his Instagram account and the fire was clearly out of control, here in Chile some weeks ago happened something similar at the city "Valparaiso", the worst wild fire ever happened here, stay safe too.

The cars imported from Japan for some reason are very cheap, so the used car business here at my city is very strong, but in Chile is not legal to sell imported used cars, only in certain cities considered as "extreme" can import used cars, my city (Iquique) is one of them, because it colides with Perú and Bolivia and is far away from the capital city (Santiago), instead, Perú and Bolivia doesn't have a law about this point and they can import used cars without problems.

American and South Korean cars are also imported in high numbers, but the 60% of the imported used cars in my city belongs from Japan, and the 20% from United States and 20% from South Korea, usually people who wants a car with no steering wheel conversion for safety reasons (althrough the conversion is not that bad) buy cars from USA or South Korea, but American and South Korean cars are more expensive here because of this.

99% of the used Honda Fit imported are from Japan and 1% from USA, it's a shame but a standard 1.3 2001 Fit from Japan can cost US $700 with shipping and here you can sell it at US $2200 (without steering wheel conversion), so JDM versions are better for this kind of business.

PD: USDM Fit owners, did you notice the difference in the glove box design between JDM and USDM Fit? the USDM Fit uses the same dashboard design that the JDM Honda Fit Aria.

 

so it sounds like you are in the business of importing cars? does that mean you are able to get your hands on say drivetrain parts or transmissions?

 

I hope so, Id pay quite a bit for a JDM 6speed GE manual transmission. And a finder's fee of course!!

 

i'm not in the business of importing cars but i have a lot of contacts who does this kind of business
