People with Skunk2 Pro-C's, help please.

Just got my Skunk2 Pro-C's installed and have a couple of questions.

I'm currently at a 5 front and 5 rear and things are riding pretty smooth. I am noticing some noise/clunking from the front passenger and rear. I took a look at the fronts and noticed this.

As you can see there is a gap where the rubber meets the chassis. Judging by the marks, I assume the rubber portion was pretty tight on the chassis. Is this normal?

Also I can't get the rear suspension cover's back on.

With the adjustment cap, it's too tall so I can't install the cover. Is this normal also? Thanks.

Your front is not normal, you need to re use a piece from your stock suspension to install the front. You need to carefully compress the spring on the stock front suspension, take off the nut and use the metal piece that looks like a metal donut and is flat on one side with your skunk2 suspension. Yeah with the costs and everything you would think your pro-c's would have come with better instructions.

Also hey!! is that water around the base ring for the rear suspension? I'm getting water leak for mine and I'm not sure if any other people are experiencing it, more interested in seeing if people who are running stock or have been recently running stock is having the same issue.

with the rear caps just set the rear cover on and drill a hole through it so that the adjustment knob pokes through just a little.

For me I just keep the knob off because without the knob, I can fit the cap on after cutting off line of plastic that just happens to cross right over the same area. It does get knocked loose once in a while when I drive through some fuzzy roads.

Hey Cowflex,

I checked around the base ring for the rear suspension and there is no water. I drove it in the hard rain today.

We reused a lot of parts for the front. Is the part you're talking about installed underneath?

Here's what I reused from the stock suspension (Thanks FitFreak member Randay):
  • wave washer
  • damper mounting base
  • damper mounting cushion
  • damper mounting bearing

Yeah, I took off the rear adjustment knobs so I could use the plastic covers, but I end up keeping the plastic covers off so I can easily change the settings.

yah, damper mount bearing is missing on the front, it looks like.

+1 on that

when i removed the mounting cushion on the driver side the bearing came off with it but the passenger side didn't and i had to pry it off of the spring seat

i wouldn't have been able to install my pro-c's without the help of FitFreak and all the DIY threads. I <3 FF.net :D

I made a thread about this.
Mine does it when it rains a lot, Id say its normal.

It took a lot of rain driving to get it to do it, but mine does it.
It also makes an annoying noise when it starts to leak.

kylerwho Feb 3, 2009 10:35 PM

why dont you just put some silicone sealant under the top rubber mount to seal up the hole there? that would stop the water from coming in and when you wanted to remove the strut it would just peel away as one piece.

I dont really care. That last pic posted above, see where the cup meets the body? It leaks around those tiny holes.
Its not a bad leak. Its like a few drops if anything.

kylerwho Feb 3, 2009 10:54 PM

i would still try to keep the water out to prevent long term corrosion.

one of my fronts look like that.
