I have been considering the idea of getting some aftermarket rims (16" or 17"). I've been doing some reading and I don't want to buy rims and have them not fit, or rub too much under load. Then I started looking at how my car sits, and it looks lower in the back then the front.

Can someone confirm? Does my suspension look lower in the back? Is that normal? There currently isn't any load in the back.


Last summer I decided to load up my car with a bunch of wood to bring camping. I left it in the car over night and then half the next day. Could I have messed up my suspension taking on so much weight? I know it was probably a stupid move.

Should I be worried about buying rims and them not fitting? Is it possible that I've owned my suspension already? I usually ride myself, my girlfriend and her son on the back passenger side.

 

Okay great, so going back to my current picture up top - does my car look lower than normal? I wish I had another Fit to compare it to. I guess I'm worried about forking out cash for wheels and then having them not fit! I have no plans to lower the car, but I'd like to put on some used 17" rims that I can find for cheap.

 

I don't know if it helps but it is often said that the wheel gap in the front is greater than in the back. I also have the same "problem" on my car. So, everything should be alright with yours.

 

I have less wheelgap in my fronts...I can't lower the rears any further lol. Your car looks fine to me in the first pic

 

Stock suspension definitely has less gap in the back. It's more noticeable if there's load in the car.

Don't sweat it.

 

Get you those wheels you want and put the wood in the front with you lol!

 

if it was just an even left/right load i think you're fine.

if you had a car on a sideways slope for a long time (like
weeks) your rear torsion beam might develop some memory.

Ahaha, thanks for all the replies guys. They were building backyard fences in our sub-divison and had a bunch of left over wood. My girlfriend and I decided to go collect all the wood and use it for firewood. In the process I caught a nail in the side wall of one of my tires, and then realized that it's pressure treated wood, and we can't burn it! ahah, good times.

Back to my search for some used 17" rims!!
