soften suspension
 

I love my 2009 Fit as it is, but my wife and children complain about the harsh ride.. :(
There's lots of info on lowering and stiffening the suspension with aftermarket coilover systems etc, but nothing I can find on making the ride more cushy. Would one of the adjustable coilovers allow for softening the ride ?

Why can't you post the answer on the forum? What is the secret to softer suspension? Longer wheelbase?

The truth is they ride like a brick. Do like me and get a Caravan to transport the family. I just don't tell anyone how much better the ride is.

It is worth a lot when your wife is disabled and finds the Fit very uncomfortable. So I have two vehicles. The Fit is just an expensive play toy for me. I really do not need a second vehicle, but in my retirement I find the Fit is fun to play with.

I have had the front windows and windshield tinted, Added the stainless posts, running boards and there are now LEDS in the fog light area.

On the rear I have changed the tails to after market ones and de-badged some and added the Hemi. Just need to have a dual exhaust tip added.

we do have a Sienna for long trips, but that is 20mpg average, as opposed to 36 for the Fit..
you pays your money and takes your choice I guess.

I bought a 1998 Cadillac Eldorado to drive whenever my back is giving hell... At wide open throttle the fuel gauge is moving to the left nearly as fast as the speedometer is moving to the right... I found that my Fit had a more comfortable ride after installing lighter wheels and Conti Pro Contact tires that have a more flexible side wall than high performance tires....

Hell, you don't even need a minivan. My BMW M3 on Koni SA and stock springs rides better than my Fit does. Tell me that isn't messed up.

itrader, Have fun with the fit. I like small cars. I had a Scion 06 XB 1st gen Gave it to my son. I had to take off the 17’s. I have it hooked up nice. He is a great son. Nothing like I was at his age. I new I wanted the Fit.

I'm asking almost the same question. I'm trying to give the car a lower stance yet keeping the current OEM ride as it has now. I don't want to slam the car just lower it a little. I also want to throw new rims keep the OEM 16 size on the car. It's an everyday car for me. Truthfully I’m able to afford allot more car. But why I paid this car in cash. if I can’t have my 911. Then give me totally the opposite. I'm looking into a boat. I’ll have to buy a used older model 8cly Pickup to pull the boat right down the block. I also work in the energy business. So I have a thing for saving gas. It also makes for an example when seeing a customer or prospect. As you we have a van. Not so plush. We purchased a Mazda 5. Wife loves it...Talk about Zoom Zoom. It has it. We had a Honda Odyssey, no longer needed. Wife did not want a car, no SUV. And not a small car unless it was her 911 or large car like a BMW 740. the lowest i saw was 12.8lbs ..

It's been a long day that included 7 hours of driving to and from a medical appointment.. 12.8 is more than likely correct... I might have quoted the weight for the 15" wheels... Anyway they are a great deal lighter than the stock wheels and will improve performance in a way that can be felt and appreciated.
