Depressing day.....

Great, after having the Fit for a great 7-8 months, some fuktard decides to smash it. Gf was driving with her brother in passenger.

basically in traffic, gf is already slowed and stopped. but the other driver was not paying attention to slowing traffic and slammed her at probably 50mph.

She was stopped a whole car length before the car in front of her, but the impact caused her car to hit the one in front also, but it was minor.
she and her brother are in minor-moderate pain and aches, my aunt and uncle are gona check them out on monday. aunt is chiropractor and uncle is MD.

from these damages, i dont even want the car back. it will never drive the same. Trunk is smashed in, passenger doors will not open, the whole passenger-side frame is all pushed towards the front.

the front end is pretty much all cosmetic damage. bumper and hood are fuked, but front frame seems ok, but i didnt check under the hood.

I was just about to install a sound system in this weekend . Car didnt even reach 8k miles yet.

Really sorry to hear that. Amazing how much damage one person who spaces out for a few seconds can do. At least everyone is OK, more or less.

If the damage is bad enough that the rear doors are stuck, I suspect the adjuster will call it a total loss. I wouldn't want it back either, after being smacked so hard.

thanks for kind words guys

yah i got there in 10 mins right after it happened. i live about 14 miles away from where it happened. i was going about 80mph+ with hazard lights flashing. (it was nice of people to move out of the way) When she called me, she seemed so confused and lost, so i wanted to make sure she was ok.

But even the police beat me to it, so all the legal stuff is being taken care of by the police. Aunt has good lawyers that contract with her chiropracting firm. So all the legal stuff is gona be taken care of. Dad is the insurance agent too.

if i'm able to see the car again, i'll remember to. (if its not damaged in the first place)

i want to be able to take everything out thats salvageable, but worried about conflicts with insurance.

At least everyone is alright albeit with a few minor aches and pains, but at least nothing major or fatal. Your Fit can always be replaced.

You might be able to buy back the fit from the insurance company if they are deaming it a total loss. Then you can pull of what is good and part it out if you choose to do so.

This totally sucks about your fit man. I saw an accident on the hwy the other day with the same kind of accident... except the vehicle that was hit was a mercury tracer (no loss really), the truck was majorly asploded...

Anyways, really hope your GF and her brother get out of pain soon. I know what kind of pain accidents can cause and it totally sucks.

GL with whatever you decide!
