185/55R16 on a 16X7

Got stock 16x6 wheels on my 2013 Fit sport. I’m planning to get wider wheels[16x7] and use my existing tires. Tires have less than 2k on them. Would my tires be ok with a wheel that’s a tad wider? Anyone got a 16x7 with a 185 wide tire? Pictures would be great too

You need more than width to know if it is safe. It's also dependent on sidewall height or aspect ratio. Go on Tire Rack website and look up your tire. Most tire manufactures give a recommended rim width range based on size. That would be the correct way of doing things. My guess it the tire will be too stretched on a 7" wide rim. I'm sure someone will tell you it will be fine. What you consider safe is up to you

I ran 185/55/16 on my 16x7 wheels in the past.

It was fine. I take no legal responsibility/liability for this advice, I am not an expert, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again on my own car.

Like Rob said it depends on the tire. Some can "stretch" more then others. They all have an acceptable width range that the tire can handle. I use TireRack specs.

Are you going for a stretched look?

185/55/16 won't look stretched on 16x7

They aren't stretched.
