Fellow cheapskates: show me your 14's!!!

Are you cheap like me? Too cheap to pay for new tires so you only replaced your 14's with new 14's and re-used your original tires? Let's see those little 14" wheels!!! Post your pics!!!

George02 08-01-2007 09:50 PM

14's??? the fit comes with 15's doesnt it?

treadLightly 08-01-2007 10:07 PM

Not if you have a base Fit!!! :(

treadLightly 08-02-2007 12:07 PM

No one with a base Fit and aftermarket 14's, eh? Post your base Fit with 15's then!!! I need to get some idea how this will look!!! Thanks

CarDemon 08-02-2007 03:03 PM

Yeah...the very base, base Fit comes with P175/65/14's with hubcaps.
So....anyone...besides winter steelies?

I went from 15's to 14's. Just wanted a change. TSW Quads.
Im selling them for $300 right now. I dont think 14's are going cheap, Id still like to run some 13's but the tire sizes are tricky.

These 14's are on 205/60's. Too much side wall, the Fits handling characteristics went down hill.

My original 14" wheels, painted body colour and adorned with trim rings and 18-wheeler axle caps. (I have 15" wheels now for the summer and will use these with snow tires in the winter.)

reminds me of the old vdub hubcaps :)
retro cool my man!

CarDemon 08-02-2007 09:16 PM

When a car is lowered on the 14's it looks quite squat and low to the ground like a go-kart. Not bad at all!!!

smeister 08-02-2007 09:51 PM

I'll try to put a pic up soon...got to represent the 14" wheel club! lol

treadLightly 08-06-2007 09:34 AM

That's it? Only two people have upgraded their stock 14's for more 14's???

dave brown 08-06-2007 09:57 AM

Not really a matter of being cheap, for me. The Fit doesn't have a lot of power so big wheels just slow it down. 14"'s with decent tires weigh less than 15"'s or 16"'s.

Too cheap for bigger wheels may equal too cheap for a digital camera?:D

treadLightly 08-06-2007 09:28 PM

Now that is CHEAP!!!

I have a base fit with 14's and stepped up to 15's with Yokohama AVS ES 100's. The Yoko's are really sticky but had a much harsher ride quality compared with my stock tires. I ended up selling them and buying a set of 1998 Integra gs 14's with 195 60 14 tires and find this setup to be the ultimate compromise. They still have a tall sidewall so they offer descent ride quality but are quite a bit wider than the stock 175 65 14's so the car sticks better. A perfect setup in my opinion.

Okay, since the Fit doesn't have a lot of power but handles well, shouldn't you exploit the talents the car does have? 15" wheels will generally out-handle 14" wheels, all other things equal. Besides, I bet those 14" wheels on your car weigh a lot more than my 15" wheels.

And if you're trying to salvage some of the handling, you'll find very few "decent" street tires in a 14" size.
