Can the Fit take 185/65R15s for winter???

Does anyone know if the Fit will be able to take 185/65R15s on the stock alloy wheels?

I want to get some cheap winter tires and the cheapest size is 185/65R15s... if I go to a 195/55 or 185/55 the price jumps dramatically..

I don't see why not...the decrease in width will give you a little bit of a stretched look, but nothing serious. Bigger sidewall...well you'll just look like you have a huge tire :p

I'm afraid that the tire may be too tall... i'd prefer a skinnier tire so the 185 part is good, but I'm just not sure about going 2 sizes up from a 55 series.

I agree, when it comes to snow, the skinner the tire the better (to concentrate the weight on your contact patch). Why not look into getting someones take off steel 14s for super cheap off a Fit base, and slap some cheap 175/65/14s on there.

PS- if you wanted to stick to the 15s, the appropriate size would be 185/60/15 if you wanted a 185 series tire...this will keep your diameter as close to stock as possible.

Here is a great site for calculating lots of fun stuff tire related: The Contact Patch

The height will be too tall for the car. Once you get a little snow packed into the wheel well you are probably going to have some rubbing.
