Rubbing and Don't Know Why?????

Hi there Everyone i am new to this forum and would like to say hi to everyone. i naturally come from a honda background (Civics, CRX and integra) then moved onto the band wagon with the drifting craze and found my calling with the 4wd Evo 9 and now a new honda fit became a new addition to the stable.

problem is i had a set a volk te37 cups 15x7 with a +35mm off set i know from the search button that ideally the Fit likes a +40mm offset but i was like what the hell 5mm can't be that bad. so the wheels came on and it would rub on hard bumps. then comes mods got the full megan parts (mani, test pipe, mid pipe, and exhaust) and lowered on tanabe df springs now it rubs on little bumps. tire size is 205/50/15 all the way around, we have trimmed the fender and bumper but it still rubs.

solution keep trimming alittle bit more or i was thinking about lowering the rear tires size down to a 195/50/15 which to my knowledge should give the car a better balance. any help on correcting the problem from Honda Fit Members would help, like where it can be rubbing at and where to modify.

thank you for your time mods this week aem cold air intake, mugen wind vent and a carbon seibon hood. please tell me what you think of our fit of

You cut the fenders? Ekkk... I would have just rolled them.
Rolling is the best way to reduce the rubbing. Theres no real way to fully get rid of the rubbing besides taking the wheels to a machine shop and shaving down the rear of the rim. Getting it to around 40mm.

Or get coilovers. Some people are saying the Tanabes are too soft.
Id just get use to it, it'll rub away.

Where does it rub the most? Front or rear.... Looks great!

it also depends on the brand tire you use, some brands have a more round sidewall, while others have a straight one.

from looking over the car every night come back it seem to rub more on the side walls of the tire so i assume it around the bumper and fender where they meet. yeah after talking to a few people rolling is pretty good but eventually cutting is a must  i might try swaping tires off the stock wheels which are 195/50/15 and see if that rubs lets keep are figures cross ;)

am glad you like the car it a work in progress but i have a feeling that it going to become a black hole that sucks every pay check into it :D

Stock tire size is 195/55's. As Chris said, all tires are different. Falkin 512's are one of the tires that have a stretched look no matter what size. You could look into those. I personally hate those tires though.

Based on all the research I've been doing, I think you have to get a larger offset. +35 is way too small. +40 might be too small.
It seems that +45 is ideal, but I've seen reports here that +43's work.

IMO, get a different wheel.

ok good new people solve the rubbing issue for now we rolled the fender, shave the bumper and relocated the philip screw that held the bumper to the car to a different location because after inspection there was marking on the screw

MarkyMark Sep 26, 2007 12:49 PM

where did you relocate the screw to?
