TIRERACK Closeout on SSR's questions...

Looking at the closeouts on the SSR wheels. Wondering if the SSR's come in 16x7? 6.5 is not going to cut it.

solbrothers Apr 1, 2008 12:39 AM

why wouldn't 6.5 inch wide rim cut it?

+1

i guess he wants to run something bigger then a 205 series tire?

solbrothers Apr 1, 2008 12:54 AM

come on.

on my brother's crown vic, he had 15x6.5 rims.

on the front, he had 205-50-15. on the back, he had 295-50-15. it IS possible to mount wide, or skinny, tires on rims.

SD_MR_FIT Apr 1, 2008 01:06 AM

man 295? talking about crazy rim protection hahaha

solbrothers Apr 1, 2008 01:08 AM

You should be able to use 205's just fine with 16x6.5 according to Tire Rack.

I am running a 205 tire on my 6.5 wide rim. Its the same amount of contact path. Doubt you will go wider than a 205 tire.

Evil XT Apr 1, 2008 05:33 PM

I want to run a 215.45.16. I didnt look at what was for sale from the previous gen civic. Thought about that today...
Ill get back to this one...

DAMN!

215 is too wide, you will rub like crazy, especially if lowered.

solbrothers Apr 1, 2008 06:07 PM

how about good suspension components, and a good bit of camber if you "need" that kind of traction

Evil XT Apr 3, 2008 11:24 PM

Swift springs, sway bars, and bushings before wheels and tires.
