Federal 595 RS-R

Anyone here have an opinion on these? Less than $400 for 4 for 205/50/16, 140TW. See some good reviews on NAISOC/EvoM/other forums, the phrase "best bang for the buck" thrown around a lot. I'm familiar with Federal's tires but i've never seen the RS-R in action, so thanks for input if you have any.

Don't care about ride comfort or noise.

I was curious about autox especially as I found good performance reviews and some data to support but it was for road course and I was wondering how they performed without much warmup time.

TPC FYI considering these for 2013 when I join you out there

Really hoping to see you out there in 2013

I do recall people talking about them needing heat to function... but since the ambient temp that day was in the 90's and it was a relatively high speed course people were having no trouble...

I'm trying a new tire combo myself, the 225 45 15 Hankook RS3's in front and a set of 195 50 15 Toyo R1R's in the back.... comes highly recommended for AutoX...

Just noticed though, is 140 tw right? That would make them illegal for use in ST or RT classes... min tread ware rating is 180

I'm going to try them on my next set of wheels. I've heard they're loud, get super greasy very quickly, and never have the same peak grip as its more expensive peers.

Figured they'd be no good in water, I wouldn't daily drive them though, they'd be on track dedicated wheels. I know the drifters love Feds so i'm not suprised, I know the regular 595s are pretty tough and can take a beating.

Hankook RS-3 vs Dunlop Z1SS vs Federal 595 RS-R vs Bridgestone RE-11 - S2KI Honda S2000 Forums

Great comparison of tires here from a S2K driver....

Not 100% applicable to our cars but worth a read

IGNORE ME.... min tread ware is 140 in ST classes DUH.... It's the RT (Road Tire) classes that are banning a ton of the 140 tread ware tires...

I'm OK with loud, I don't think i'm worried about them greasing up for autoX, but TPC's comment about them taking time to warm up has me worried, because that would mean they'd be not that good for autoX and getting greasy would be bad for road course.

But then again I always had fun on 615's, so I suppose it can't be any worse than that

The place I saw people running them was out at the Castle Air Force auto cross in Atwater. I am headed there again this Sunday so I will ask around and see if I can get more feed back.

Also if your looking for awesome deals on tires, PM JDMxGE8. Matt is awesome and is hooking me up with my new Toyo's!
