Civic VX wheels on GD Fit?
 

Just wondering if anyone has tried these wheels, do they clear our front brakes with a 5 mm spacer like the HX wheels do?

I doubt it but there's only one way to find out.

Yes I'm doubting it now too since the GD fit has 10"+ front brakes and the VX had 9.5." Oh well, the HX wheels will suit me just fine!

Eesh! It looks like it might not fit...
 

devmail, IDK how accurate this is, but I put an image of the VX rim onto CorelDraw. Then I scaled it to read the wheel in inches. It looks like the inside dimension of the wheel is barely ~10" in diameter. It looks like it would be a "really" tight fit to me (if the Fit brakes are in fact 10"+). I would definitely want to mount one up before buying a set.
BTW, why do you want the VX rims? Cost? Weight? Size? Have you considered the Kosei K1 TS rims? These are light, reasonable in price, and are 14" in diameter (tire selection is prolly a bit better than for 13" tires as well). FYI, I have a set of these mounted with Kumho V710s for AutoX.

Hey macbuddy, the vx were in my sights for their cost and weight and low-key looks. You are definitely right about the tires for 14"...way better selection. I have looked at the Kosei K1 TS and since I already have the HX wheels decided it wasn't really worth it at this point. Thanks for your help tho, if I can find a vx wheel somewhere I'll try it out and see.

Macbuddy, did you need spacers or have any rubbing problems being lowered with those kosei k1 ts wheels? I'm reconsidering them!

I do not use any spacers. During AutoX, I did get some rubbing when cornering, on bumpy road surfaces. Over time, the fender liner wore, and the rubbing went away. Keep in mind that besides being lowered, I was also running 8" wide, 205/55R14 tires! I am pretty sure that any tires 195 or less should be fine. Tirerack recommends a 175/65-14 tire. Imagine if you were to mount a 13 lb. 175/65-14 Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tire, onto a 9.3 lb Kosei K1 TS rim. Each corner would only weigh 22.3 lbs! A total of 89.2 lbs of unsprung weight!
For Daily driving, I run 9.5 lb. RPF1s, mounted with 15 lb. 195/45R15 Toyo T1Rs. My wheel/tires weigh in at 24.9 lbs. per corner...less than 100 lbs. total weight. Note, as the tires wear, each tire will get lighter. After running my tires just over 60K miles, I found that each of my tires had lost nearly 2 lbs. of rubber!

Thanks for all the info! I have decided to sell the HX wheels, spacers and lugnuts and buy the Kosei K1 TS when funds allow.

What do you think of running a 185/55 R14 tire daily? The smaller diameter would help gearing and acceleration for drag racing. The Yokohama S Drive and a couple Marshal tires are the only good summer tires I can find. 17 lbs each however.

I have only had good experience with the Yokohama S. Drives. I feel they are quiet, ride smoothly, and handle well in both dry and wet conditions. Depending on how I drove, I could also get good mileage from them. I got 61,000 miles on my first set. I only got 19K on the 2nd set, due to a few to many AutoX runs, and so far, I have 29K on my 3rd set. They still look to be in great shape, so I expect to see at least 50K or better on them. These are mounted on my OEM Sport rims. BTW, this set is quietly sitting in a corner of my garage. They have become my designated back up set for the time being.
I switched to Toyo T1Rs when I got the RPF1s. The Toyos are a bit lighter, and ride at least as smooth as the S. Drives. I am on my second set of 195/45R15s, which I have been using daily, so I don't see a problem with using 185/55-14s for daily driving. You will definitely notice quicker acceleration with the smaller/lighter wheel/tire set up. As for freeway usage, I was anticipating increased engine revving when using small diameter tires on my 5AT. That was not an issue. I can't think of any disadvantages to running ~22" diameter rubber...well, maybe one drawback is that potholes do seem much bigger these days!

I have these as well and agree. Finally rained yesterday so got to test them out in the wet and they were outstanding. Fairly quiet and grip well... they have a progressive traction loss on dry instead of just "oops too much, you're going for a spin now or into a wall". Good forward traction as well, no drag radials but they'll hook up fast enough, which was a problem with my former cheapo Falkens, the pegleg launch was too much for those even without dumping the clutch.

Damn those Toyo Proxes T1R tires are light! The 195/45/14 weigh 15 lbs as well. That gives even better final drive gearing than the 185/55/14. :-)

Well I'll soon find out if VXs will fit or can be modified to fit. Got a set on the way with tires.

Dont forget if you don't keep the same diameter by upping the side-wall, your speedo will be off.

Yup I realize the speedo will be off, no biggie.

I think I can get the VX wheels to fit, so far so good anyway. Using a dremel to grind the caliper only as much as needed. I'd say its about 3 mm that needs to be grinded off the forward face of the caliper and upper and lower bracket.The rotor fits fine and the dust shield needs to be bent back on the edge at the top. I don't believe it will harm the calipers.

I ordered a 25 mm hub and wheel centric spacer/adaptor but it may not be required. I'll probably use it anyway just to move the wheels out a bit because they will look very tucked without. Hopefully soon I'll be Rollin on 13s LOL!

I've got one VX wheel spinning freely on my Fit with no spacer. :-) No braking issues so far. Wore out my dremel tho and had to buy a grinder, which should speed up the grinding on the other side; Took about 10 hrs because the dremel bits are so small. I'll post some pictures when complete.

I noticed a slight rub when turning left, possibly the dust shield I bent needs adjustment.

Will fix the rub tonight, then I'm going to remove the old paint off the wheels. They are currently grey but underneath is white, red, green, black and then the original silver.

The 25 mm spacers I have on the way should provide additional clearance.

In total this took about 8 hrs per side with a grinder...the dremel is far too slow and mine burnt out during the process. :-/

Also need to get my T1R springs on ASAP....stupid rusty bolts.

Whoa, you got it done! Awesome! For the record, what size tires are you running now?

These are 175/70 r13 winter tires that came on the wheels. I'm going to order 185/60 r13 when funds allow.

First impression of lighter wheels: seems a lot easier to turn the steering wheel left and right, noticeable acceleration increase as well...less "lag" when stepping on the gas pedal.
