You get that between the 195/45/16 and the 205/45/16 there's only a 7mm difference in overall diameter? That means 1/2 of the difference will go into the wheel well or 3.5 mm taller. The tire will only be 5mm wider per side at most once stretched onto a 7" wide wheel.

The 195/45 vs the 205/40/16 the 205/40 will be 11mm less in overall diameter and the same 5mm or so wider.

I don't know where your perceived rub issue is? If you think it's from width go with the 195, if you think it will be from height go with the 205/40/16?

Again, you're basically putting the same size tire on regardless of choice. If you're going to have a rub issue, most likely all of them will rub on none of them will rub? Especially once the suspension is loaded under a hard bump or during hard cornering.

 

I'm asking because the 195 45 16 is listed as a stock size for 16" wheels.

I've read many threads where offset of 40 can rub with a 205 45 16 and many threads say no rub.

 

pretty simple, go to Tire Rack's website. Pull up your car, find a wheel that's the same scecs as you want and put the tire on it. Tire Rack is pretty sofisticated with using CMM, and 3D modeling to see what fits.

 

Good idea, they have the 16" AR95 ESTRELLA wheels I bought, and when I plug in the "2007 Honda Fit" into the search bar, it recommends a bunch of 205/45R16 tires.


It just worries me as financially I could not afford to buy the wrong set of tires, lol

 

205/45R16 is the correct size for first gen Fits with 16s. It is also the OEA tire size for those ran the accessory HFP wheel for the GD.

As for tire rub... you MIGHT (pretty low/minor possiblity but still...) get away with running the 205/45s on 7 inch wide wheels featuring a +40mm offset. The general rule of thumb for GDs on stock suspension with 205s on 7 inch wheels is an offset as low as +42mm on stock suspension, +45mm lowered. Some chassis may vary slightly and clear, others may not. A simple fender liner tuck and maybe shave a little plastic of the inner tabs of the rear bumper to clear and you'll be good.
