3rd Gen OEM wheels on 2nd Gen Fit?
 

I was told by the Honda Parts manager that the 3rd generation OEM wheels will not sit properly on the hub of the 2nd generation Fit...

But they both have a center bore of 56.1mm according to my googling...He's wrong, right?

They're both as you said 56.1mm hub bore.

Maybe he was trying to say that you might have interference issues and articulated it poorly?

The standard 16X6" wheel from a 2013 has a 50mm offset and the standard 16X6" wheel from a 2016 has a 53mm offset. Basically the 2016 wheel is going to be 3mm or 1/8" closer to the strut.

If you compare the 2013 Sport wheel of 16X6.5" with a 45mm offset and 205/50/16 tire to the 2016 16X6" 53mm offset with a 195/55/16 tire than the 2016 setup will be 1.5mm or 1/16" closer to the strut than the sport.

Personally, I can't believe Honda or any manufacturer would have the wheel so close to the strut not to take in account tire flex. I would think that you would be fine since it's in theory only a 1/16" closer. My guess is he was covering his and the dealerships butt? Regardless anytime you go from non-standard to something different you should physically check to see that it will have sufficient clearance. Either test fit what you're buying or at minimum look at your existing setup on the ground and see how much clearance there currently is between the tire and the strut. Accounting for the additional 1/8" you need at minimum 1/2"-5/8" currently to have sufficient room after the wheel change.
