you're safe from ban... for now... x:

looks like it can let anything fly in from this angle? also from the hole size doesnt seem like the opening has to be that wide? i have no doubt in mind the final product will be sick though.

Thanks for posting the pics again.
I knew it would have some issues with fit since this is just being made from a temp mold and any real fit issues will be addressed.
Keep in mind too that I am planning to fit a piece of mesh over the front opening.
The scoop can be smaller but I would like to get everyone's opinion on size and shape.

Jim,

I think the size is just right. I personally don't like the rounded top. I think the top should be sharp and follow the line of the hood which the scoop parallels beneath it. I would still keep the rounded corners to help flow with the overall shape of the car.

Jim, your work is second to none, but I like your first rendition much better. Of course this is only my opinion and I understand that your final product will have to be to everyone's general liking.

Here's another idea, this is just a model of the scoop sitting on the stock cowl piece. The scoop is obviously smaller but blend in better.
Let me know what you think before I go any further.

The scoop is coming along nicely...and really like the progress so far.

My lingering concern is that the scoop appears to be directed off to the left-side over the driver-side fender rather than towards the front grill.

Also in the pic below, it appears to also have an odd upwards orientation as well:

I really like the look of this scoop (see pic below). It has a more pleasing straight forward orientation:

Just my thoughts...

I think its more a matter of orientation of that removable piece n the difference in jdm cowl vs usdm cowl. For rogue to make it more facing forward would result in an awkward placement of the scoop onto the cowl. ...sorta like twisting half of a rubix cube 45 degrees. Hope that makes sense. Luckily for japan the jdm cowl removable piece is on a straight section of the cowl that runs parallel to the cars front end. still, i believe im getting alot of air regardless of the orientation.

Looks better facing forward. If the scoop has to be offset so be it.

That's exactly the situation, I would prefer it if the scoop could be oriented more toward the center, facing directly forward, but the removable piece of the cowl is angled. And I don't know off hand what it would take to install the piece on the center part of the cowl.
The upward orientation is because the upper edge needs to be cut back some to clear the swing of the hood during opening.

Could you not make the scoop removable? This is how the scoop was on my GruppeM intake on the 5R. It was held in place by 4 plastic pushpins. The bonnet would not open without removing the scoop, I mean you could force it open, but why do that when it only takes a minute to remove.

The scoop could be placed about anywhere as long as the owner would be willing to cut a hole in the cowl for the air flow.

I was playing around with a couple different ideas. The pictures are to just show the concept and the actual shape obviously needs refined, I mainly would like to nail down the basic idea.

The first is an idea I originally had but thought it may be a bit too much for most owners, but it would allow the scoop to face forward. The scoop part cantilevers over the center section of the cowl and then the air is 'ducted' to the opening.

The second is just a basic asymmetric shape.

Let me know what you think and I'll try to get another prototype going.
