Dashcam fusebox connecting question

I just bought a Rexing V1P Gen3 front and rear dashcam. I have a 2019 EX and I was wondering if it was possible or smart to connect the camera directly to the fuse box to have the camera always on.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty handy with repairs but I am unfamiliar with electrical stuff.

Wouldn't that drain the battery after a while if your intention that it would always be on?

He's right. Dashcams have a high current draw. As long as you're running your car every day which will recharge the car battery you might be OK but if you let your car sit for a day or two because you're not using it then you might not be able to turn it over. If your dashcam has a motion detector so that it's only on when movement is detected then that would be much better than just always on.

Get a dashcam battery pack. Made a huge difference for me. https://www.blackboxmycar.ca/collections/battery-packs

That is my fear, especially since the fit battery is smaller...

Thank you for the info. I went ahead and just used the standard power adapter it came with instead of trying to wire it into the fuse box. I will check out the batteries for the future though.

I had actually looked at using a jump starter pack I had. Have that charging while driving, then plug in the dash cam into one of its USB ports. I forget how man MA it has but should run for a while at least.

I've read about people trying that. I can't remember what the problem was in this method, otherwise I'd have pursued it.

I've drained the tiny battery with the dashcam. Even if I set the power drain to stop at higher voltages, the stock 151R battery was a joke and not up to the task.
