I'm stupid...reverse while forward move...

Ok, I did put the stick in reverse at 60km/h and while
the clutch was pressed, it grind... now the stupid part,
I did it not one, not two but 4 times (just to be shure
I was stupid enough...) It's only a grind but do you think
I managed to break something ??? I tought it was impossible
to pass the reverse when moving forward on a manual...
I never let the clutch go (I'm stupid but not that much)

Everything feel normal, I just want to be shure I did not
broke something...

it's too hard to diagnose somethign over the net. I'm guessing that if it was ONLY a SLIGHT grind, you sould be ok. I drive an AT so i'm not sure about the MT setup, but you sould NOT be able to go into reverse unless you FIRST go into First gear. Again, when you call your Dr. to make an appointment, you can't say over the phone, "Hey Doc, what do you think? do i have cancer?" you've actually have to go to do tests. Get your technician to take a look at the car, take a sample of the tranny oil and see if there's any metal in it. Good luck!!

Philippe.

it is possible to shift into reverse while moving forward
however there is mechanical stop that prevents you from shifting into reverse directly from 5th gear

Its the same as grinding gears. Its not good if its done a lot but a few times wont hurt anything. Maybe a little metal build up in the trans.

At times, the shifting is so smooth on my Fit compared to my Mx6 I shift so lightly I dont put it in gear all the way. I grind gears TOO often in my Fit. :o
Im sure its fine. Just dont do it anymore.

I think your ok, it usally break on the fifth time that you do it!!

Thanks for answers... I still feel bad about that.
I took a ride tonight with the Fit and everything
seem fine. I tought that when the clutch was fully
pressed, nothing could happen but I was wrong...
Now I understand about the reverse not having
syncro... I will do a tranny fluid flush this spring
just in case...

Thanks again,
Philippe.

word, you cant go directly from 5th to reverse, but as long as you go to neutral you can possibly get it into Reverse

it grinds because reverse does not have syncros and is strait cut, (why reverse wines bad when you go fast) so the possibility of getting it into gear while moving is next to none, unless you are realy trying(rev matching double clutch ect..), so as long as you only herd grinds all you did was probably chip up the teeth on the reverse gears

keep a eye out tho if it starts to throw the shifter back out of gears, including reverse, you might of bent a shift fork

I think it's time to change your shifting habit... How did you putting it into reverse?

Glad that your car is doing okay!
