My hatch won't open
 

My 2009 Fit 5-speed hatch all of a sudden won't open. I tried locking/unlocking. I opened up the little box in the back but I'm not sure how to release the catch. Can someone help me? I called two dealerships and they want $103.95 to diagnose the problem. Can't do that.

Your dealership sucks. Call up others in area and see what they have to say.

The owner's manual should have some verbiage about what bits are what behind the panel on the inside of the hatch—how to unlock and unlatch it from the inside, etc. (Strangely enough, it's in the section on "Emergency Towing" in my manual, so it's not exactly easy to find.)

For the 2012, after popping off the access panel just above the latch in the middle of the hatch, you need to move the loop bit towards the left to unlock and unlatch the hatch.

Forget those dealerships! Bring it in (somewhere else) tell them you'll pay parts plus labor once fixed.

Or follow the above. It's probably a WD-40 fix. Save your $103.
