I agree with that statement. Mine says "Sport" on the back and has plenty of utility. Does this mean my registration cost will go up?

Yikes! That did not hold up very well. Doesn't look like a GK btw.

In my opinion, the Fit being a sub-compact, removes it from the category of "Sports Utility Vehicle".

It's a Sporty, very utilizable hatchback. But IMO not a by definition Sports Utility Vehicle.
I think you need a starting point baseline of HRV, CRV, or Toyota Rav4 type size.

Subcompacts are subcompacts.

It's sporty
Is has plenty of utility
It's a vehicle.

So, it's a SUV

Honda forbids you from calling it an SUV because if the public was to believe that then more people might start buying the Fit instead of Honda's big SUVs which sell for a big bloated price providing Honda with most of its profits.

Well, the "reporter" is as stupid as the two thieves. Some stretch and pull it into to make the letters make it an SUV. There's enough auto confusion .. sports car, pony car, muscle car … I've seen Mustangs described as, well choose one./c'asspc

Hey, I love the Fit, I've bought two of them. BUT....
It's NOT an SUV.

A Nissan Juke is within a few inches in dimensions as a GK and it's considered a crossover suv. Crossovers are just hatchbacks with a little more ground clearance so it wouldn't be surprising if the dumb media gets the details wrong.

A Fit is sportier & more utilitarian than 99% of SUV on the road so it works.

i just put a set of extraload suv tires on mine :P

Just to change the subject a bit....... Dealers where I live have 2020 Fits on the lots. They are a carry over for sure. Bad thing, for me, is that they are heavy on the low end LX models. I guess they figure Fit buyers are just looking for a cheap Honda. My issue is I wanted an EX-L with Nav. (yes...I like the Nav) but they dropped that on the 2010. I presume the Nav option at $1,000 didn't go over well with value conscience buyers. I did find two EX-L Nav Fits (2019 was last year) but they were both on the East Coast, far from me, and priced over retail.
The 2020 will run Android Auto so I guess that would be as close to a dedicated Nav system. It works find...until you get out of cell phone range which we do at times. Of course you can download the maps for the area as I recall.

Anyway, we were looking to replace our trusty 2015 EX-L with a new model with all the safety systems but wanted to get the new body style and as its our "around town" care we wanted the hybrid. Looks like that plan is out the window for now. We have driven the Fit since they first hit the US market and my wife loves her. There are a bunch of them in my family as three generations of us own and love them.
Oh, and for the record, our "highway" travel car is an '19 Acura RDX Advance.....
