After 9 VW's I bought a Fit

I have driven VW's all my life, starting with a 74 superbeetle. My Audi A3 had 35,000 miles on it and I was back at the dealer again with a low oil light 3,000 miles after the last service(factory schedule is every 10,000miles). After leaving the Audi dealer I drove to the Honda dealer and testdrove a Fit.

I am now the proud owner of a Blue 5spd manual sport, and it's good to have a fun to drive car again. The Honda buying experience with the dealer I ended up choosing was 1st class. He tracked down the car I wanted. When I went to pick it up it was ready to go, with the accessories we agreed on and the stock wheels and tires loded in the back I signed some papers and was off.

I am happy to join to the dark side :)

Have fun with it! The 5MT is fun to drive, even if it has only <100 hp/tq to the wheels. And enjoy the gas savings, too. My driving is spirited and I still get 30mpg!

Yep, I'll say it again, Honda did good with the Fit, its getting lots of attention from us VW guys. Take a good look at the mechanics of the car, and you'll see why, its simple, and it works, drives like its on rails and is light...everything VW *USED* to be. (I've owned over 30 watercooled VWs, after my last experience with a 2000 Golf TDI having to go into the dealer 3 times in the first 6 months, I knew I was done with new VWs).

Awesome man, you made a great choice by choosing the Fit!

mog555 Aug 31, 2007 12:02 PM

Yeah I told my one friend who thought I was insane that the Fit was more Rabbit than the current Rabbit. It totally reminds me of my 83 GTi, Thumper the Rallybit.

Thanks for the warm welcome all

I'm in the same boat. After owning a A3 golf a B4 passat and a B5.5 passat I will be purchasing a Fit. Overwhelming maintenance costs over the years have slowly degraded my loyalty to the euro scene. I think I will be happy with my future purchase of a Fit with all the good experiences on this site. =) -Calvin

I had 4 VW's, a beetle TDI, a beetle 1.8T, a Golf TDI and finally a Beetle 2.0... honestly I couldn't be happier. No problems whatsoever with the Fit but countless problems with EVERY VW i ever owned... pieces of crap if you ask me. I love Honda now with all of my being, I will NEVER stray. I can't believe I used to be one of the VW guys who had the nerve to make fun of Honda. I'm sorry, but does VAG have a F1 team? thought not... what about a robot division? nope, jets? nope... one of the number one selling cars in Germany is the Honda Jazz (it outsells the Golf, I wonder why???!!) I know that from firsthand experience, I'm German!...

Welcome aboard this site, and welcome to Fit ownership.

Welcome to Honda ownership. I was at one time an "American car guy", and declared I'd never buy a Japanese car new.

Then I finally had the chance to drive an Accord regularly---after meeting the woman I'd marry. I knew they were good, but had no idea just HOW good until I had seat time.

Now, I don't think I'll ever buy anything else.

And I LOVE my Fit. Most fun under $16,500 on the road today.

And I'm finally getting around to modding it. Intake and exhaust are on their way.
