look nice, do u think it will be 2009 fit for the US?

storm88000 09-22-2007 02:43 AM

Looks too much like the Toyota Yaris IMO.

"The incorporation of i-VTEC variable valve timing helps the 1.5-liter engine produce 118 horsepower at 6,000 rpm (an improvement of 9 hp) and 107 pound-feet of torque at 4,800 rpm (a very useful increase of 21 lb-ft)."

- Sheesh. Maybe I should have waited to get one. :)

2009 is the US number. It's earlier for everyone else.

Raaaaaaaaaay. 09-22-2007 01:15 PM

Im only interested in the motor. The rest of that car can sink to a lake.
Maybe swapping the head onto our motors? Id like that big jump in HP.

i agree with you
but i do agree with most ppl on the interior
the steering wheel remindsme of the new SI's
and those gauges rock
but i want that extra power in the motor

corey415 09-22-2007 02:14 PM

Looks great! Cant wait to get one.

cheffyjay 09-26-2007 02:55 AM

kinda hope that it looks better in person than in the photos. Interior looks good though, seats look like they have more lateral support. First gen. exterior looks better. Wouldn't mind the improved ride quality.

TOOL 09-26-2007 10:45 AM

^Im almost 100% sure it will look better in person!

pokems23 09-26-2007 05:02 PM

new fit

I'm not too keen on the new look either. Engine upgrade is a plus. However, that does mean lower gas mileage. I'm still happy with the 1st gen Fit.

TOOL 09-26-2007 05:05 PM

^Not forsure it will get lower MPGs, they can tweak things so it will get about the same as the current model..Hopefully! They cant lose the winning balance which is the current Fit-High MPG, High quality, Fun to drive, LOW PRICE!

Mugen_Dom 09-26-2007 06:11 PM

10 cup-holders?? WTF?? 10??????

No spare tire either

TOOL 09-27-2007 12:33 AM

^It may have RunFlat tires...

jits14 09-27-2007 10:55 AM

Yeah I couldn't believe they dropped the spare.... no wonder its only 22 lbs lighter, but also with the glass roof and reinforced structure(164% more ridgid, damn!), I am still amazed its only 22 lbs heavier.

I definitly think a i-vtec swap is possible, if the block is the same it will be a direct bolt on.
I honestly think they will inevidably make an si or type r version in the near future because the civic is taking the accords place, so that would put the fit into the civics place.

I wonder what the lane change speed is now that its more ridgid and the suspension is better...this thing could beat any car I bet.

corey415 09-27-2007 11:43 AM

I personally believe Honda will ship the next gen Fit here with a spare. The can of fix o flat would be acceptable if the car were a two seater sports car. The car is sporty, but lets not fool ourselves here. So then the only other option is run flats. I really doubt Honda would give run flats to the cheapest car in its model lineup.

I figure we wont get the glass roof, the keyless start, jdm flare holder, and so on. But we will likely get a spare. And 10 cup holders.

srtoomey 09-30-2007 07:30 PM

Same reaction to the 10 cup holders. I dont get it.

As for the rest of the article. I really like the 09. This is why Im really confused about getting an 08 now or waiting til next Fall to get the 09. Then if I dont like the 09....I can get the 08 a little cheaper.

OR I might just get the 08 and trade in for the 09.

SO many options. Grrr.

Well at least Honda listened to its customers complaints and fix it on the redeigned 09. Better engine, more stablity, and hey ARMRESTS! :D
