Rattles cannot be fixed - don't buy a FIT
Shop has had my FIT in four times for almost 30 days working on the horrible dashboard rattles and cannot fix them. District Factory Rep told me Honda cars are not designed to be driven on dirt road when I used a dirt road as part of the test drive as the shop wanted to show him how bad it rattled. That was two weeks ago. They are supposedly working on a buy back under lemon law but so far haven't heard back even though they told shop they would call me by last Friday.
Also, gas mileage in automatics is usually terrible. Do not buy a FIT. You will regret it. They are junky and Honda doesn't care. |
To clarify.....don't buy YOUR Fit! Plenty of people on here without ANY problems. Cheers:cool:

Seriously. You don't have to be so ignorant and say all fit's are bad. I've had mine for 1 year and 9 months and i havn't had ONE problem with it. I have great gas mileage (37mpg). Honda does care, that's why they are the #1 selling car company. Check out the resale value of a honda, definitely higher then any other car.

Sorry to hear that Terry F.
I can't say as though I've noticed any major rattles, except when it was -25 out. Of course, at those temps, lots of weird noises occur. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary during normal temps and while I haven't driven on dirt roads, our roads do have plenty of cracks, potholes, etc. In our conditions, I can't say as though the Fit has been worse than any other car I've driven. |
wow i didn't know rattling could be that detrimental to the quality of a car
|
try buying a truck or off road vehicle if you have to drive down dirt roads all day...
there is thousands of happy fit owners on here without your problem, so how about you don't buy a fit and we keep on enjoying ours :) |
heh i think his ignorance was posted in the wrong forum. fitfreak.net are mostly Happy FIT owners. i could careless about his opinion.

this kid seems like a dick... maybe off roading caused the rattle? i have had 0 problems as well... and if you constantly red-line no shit u get crappy gas mileage.... i get up near 40 no problem and have yet to hear a rattle... dont go bashing the car... no manufacturer is perfect... honda is just better than most... and they do stand by their cars always have for my family (have had a honda in the garage over 20 years now!) yo want to see a shitty car... go drive a saturn... oh and **** you dont rip on the Fit
|
those are pretty strong words terry. it sucks you had a bad experience with yours but for the most part the rest of us seem to be almost worry free. as far as the offroad stuff there has been a few threads on people that have been driving theres offroad and they didnt seem to have any problems. no car company is perfect but looking at the numbers ie volume, reliabilty, safety, and resale honda is closer then most.

A typical forum - I never said the car was "off roading". I said we drove on a dirt road as in unpaved. It was two blocks from the dealer. I have been watching this forum for a year and a half and happen to know a huge number of people have complained about unacceptably low gas mileage and about rattles. There is even another thread on rattles. Plus, I am not a kid. I am over 50 years old. I made a post to warn others not to make the same mistake I did. There are many other reasons not to buy a FIT such as the loudness of the car at highway speeds, the continual hunting for gears by the auto trans at cruising speeds, the jerky windshield wipers, etc.
|
Wow - I am sorry you've had trouble with your Fit but like the other guys have already stated, alot of us don't have any problems with those issues. I know all the little things about the car that make it unique and the reasons I love this car are too many to list. Sorry for your experience but that doesn't mean that everyone is going to have the same experience that you had with yours. I would have no problem recommending this car to anyone who asked and because of the Fit I will never drive another American made car as long as I live! I am in my 50's too but the car is so much fun to drive - and I just love my Fit.
Cat :x |
Wow, I'm sorry to say this, but if you expect your car to be absolutely perfect, maybe you should keep your money and take the bus. The honda fit , in my opinion, and the opinion of a majority of members here is an absolutely great car. Oh and ranking amongst 10 of the best cars in car & driver has to mean something, no?

It's obvious you are not happy with your car, but in order to have people listen and understand what has happened with your car, you'd probably get a better response if you weren't quite so harsh. I am sure if I had issues with my Fit like you have, I'd be pissed off too. Junky? My Fit seems to be a damn well-built and fairly nice little car for $15k. Of course, at that price point I didn't have expectations of it being the best built and greatest car ever. I think it far exceeds my expectations. I just passed 50,000 miles and I am a pretty hard driver. It gets it's fair share of Philly streets with potholes and other crap thrown at it. And it sees long stretches of 85 to 90 mph and it's not that loud on the highway. I'll throw my ignorant generalization now: Automatics suck...I can't imagine why anyone would ever want one. Of course, I am being a "typical forum guy" when I say that...of course some people want autos. A better way of putting it might be "I think they suck". And I do. Want a car that doesn't constantly hunt for gears? Buy one that has three pedals. |
You did not state if the rattles you have happen more or less when the car is hot or cold. It would make a difference if wiring harness rattles or knocks (quietly when warm) against the radio or components or not. Also the upper vents may loosen (they rotate slower when warmed up)when they are cold. I had this problem, but fixed it by tightening the fit between them. I had VW which I paid twice as much that rattled worse. Good Luck With Tracking it Down.

don't buy from GM, don't buy mitsubishi, don't buy a car from a salvage yard. Just like the first post, its all opinion. I love my fit, rattles and all.
|
i do get rattles here and there when im going over 85 mph but other than that its a pretty smooth ride, its obviously not a speed demon like they say in the commercials but its definitely a good cruiser around town...it sux that u got a lemon, i dont know what to tell u, but get a good lemon lawyer if they arent doing anything for you after having it fixed 3 times, you have the right to get a new one if its in that bad of condition...
|
Sure a few fits have rattles but that doesnt mean ALL of em. And plus cmon the Auto trannys arent that bad with Gas i was hitting 36-39 with the occasional 40+ a few months ago and if thats not good i dont know what is anymore. Sorry that you've had such a bad experience with your fit but dont be ignorant and generalize that ALL fits are bad and Honda too.
|
mine doesn't rattle but even if it did, i really dont care that much.
i mean come on, this is a $16k car...it doesn't have to be perfect. lol |
