can't decide, sport or LX?
I pretty much made up my mind last Sunday to get a fit. The dealer here has a blackberry LX in stock that i like. But just when i made up my mind now the dealer has a blaze orange fit sport in stock. Now I'm wondering if the sport is worth getting over the LX even though it is $2300 more. Keep in mind the LX in Canada comes with cruise control and AC. In your opinion, is a sport worth the extra money? |
it depends what type of person you are. now that i look back on it, i wish i gotten the LX instead of the sport, cause for the extra 2300, i could of gotten a mugen wide body kit on it, + i changed the rims anyways so either way thats a loss.
now with that being said, the sport has a lot of advantages i love. 6 speaker mp3 system as opposed to 4, better interior materials (seats wise), and yes the stock rims are really nice looking as well compaired to the 14 inch nasty looking hubcaps. Depends on your personality really. your making a great choice either way :) |
If you plan on driving the car for a few years, then you will probably not remember how much extra you paid for the Sport version. But, if you go for the cheaper model, then you will always ask yourself, "I wish I had the upgraded sound system", or "I wish I had the paddle shifters on the automatic." If you are going to finance the car, then ask your bank how much more per month you payment will be to get the Sport. It might only be a few dollars more per month. Just cut out that extra candy bar or beer every day, and you can now afford the Sport.

Including what the LX has, the Sport variant adds the following:
Paddle shifters (AT only) 15" Aluminum alloy wheels P195/55 R15 tires (as opposed to P175/65 R14) Standard security alarm (optional on LX) Rear roof spoiler Underbody spoilers (lip kit) Fog lights Leather steering wheel Standard remote entry 5-mode equalizer (radio) 200w 6-speaker audio system (LX, DX have 160w 4-speaker systems) (the 2 extra speakers are tweeters) MP3 Playback capability LX is CA$17,380 Sport is CA$19,580 For the CA$2,200 price difference, you actually get much. Personally, I think it's worth it for the spoilers, alloy rims, and the upgraded radio and speaker system. It's your call. |
i got the Sport in SSM, and even though i paid about the same amount extra that you did, it was one of the best investments ive made. i love the new interior colour and the stereo. its about as good as it gets in this price bracket. if i had to buy another, id option it out the exact same way. i'd say that its worth the money

If you are asking yourseft the question you are not ready for the sport model.
|
If cost is your primary concern, the LX gives you the same Honda quality, same fuel mileage, same performance, same dependability etc. If you're asking whether the sport is worth the difference, I think it's one of the best no brainer upgrades in the auto industry. The content is well worth the difference and the resale value will be higher to boot.
According to Kelley Blue Book right now in the US for private party sale a 2007 with 15,000 miles is worth $13,145 if an LX and $14.560 if a Sport. |
yeah, resale value is a factor. Will resale value increase or decrease when the 2009 comes out? For me its not as much about the look of the sport because i was already sold on the LX. I guess I'm mostly wondering if the sport is that much better in terms of driving pleasure and other features.
|
i picked the base (LX) model because I knew I'd be going with a lot of aftermarket parts anyway and the sound system wasn't important to me.

You can't add a painted body kit, alloy wheels, upgraded sterio, fog lights, leather steering wheel, etc for $2,200, but if those things aren't important to you or you would upgrade the ones that come on the Sport anyway then buy the LX. |
I just realized Canada is expensive!
The base U.S. Fit MT (Canadian LX) is only US$13,950 and the U.S. Sport Fit MT is only US$15,270. Right now US$1=CA$0.9900, almost equal. Makes me think twice about ever moving to Canada o_O |
Yes we pay more for evererything cojaro if your cannadian it just like your doll we get spank by Mario..LOL:wavey:

If you want all the bells and whistles of the Sport it is worth the little extra expense. I am really glad that I went with the Sport because of the body kit and all the extras. Just depends on what your taste and desires are for the new Fit.

i will have to test drive the sport version and see for myself if it is worth it. I've already driven the LX twice and the only complaint i have is some choppiness on rough roads (but i'm used to worse since i have a jeep) and the defroster is not that great with 3 people inside but it was like -35 when i drove it. what i like about the lx over the sport is the price. what i like about the sport over the lx is the wheels, rear spoiler, and possible better resale value. The rest i will see when i do the test drive.

Okay, i test drove a fit sport. What i realize after driving it for a half an hour is that the seats are uncomfortable to me. But its funny because i never felt that way in the LX. Is the sport seats different/firmer? Also the wind noise on the highway is bad. I'm starting to have second thoughts about the fit now. On the plus side it corners like a champ. I'm kind of dissapointed now though because i was all set to buy a fit and now i'm having second thoughts.

The fit is a great car for the money. It can hold a lot of stuff and is fun to drive. It's a great CITY car, IMO. If you are going to do a lot of HIGHWAY driving like you mentioned, it may not be the right car for you. I would get the SPORT over the LX if you can afford it. The base model looks really ugly (sorry base owners but it's true). The big things that I like about the sport, is the body kit /spoiler, fog lights and leather steering wheel. the upgraded stereo is awesome too.

There are some people who find the seats uncomfortable - it just depends on several things. I have never had a problems with the seats and find them just fine - but I never do any long distance driving. The wind noise on the highway will always be with you and the first time a large 18 wheeler passes you - you will feel the "suck zone" - it is the reality of owning a micro - however the steering and handling of the Fit is really nice and yes corners like a dream. Have you test drove anything else? Shop around and make sure the Fit is right for you. For me there was nothing but the Fit even after I looked at several other options. I could have bought a Civic but when I drove it compaired to the Fit - it just did not do it for me. Hope you take your time and really make sure that the Fit is for you.
