Possible new owner, general Q's

Howdy all... Im in the market for a gas saver.

I've been debating about either the fit or yaris. obviously it will be biased, but I'm just wondering why you decided to go with a fit?

I used to own a 97 accord and the a/c in there was weak. Did honda remedy that? Does the A/c blow ice cold for hours on end in the fit on a hot day??

koolkevin1107 Mar 29, 2008 01:28 PM

get the fit, yaris's ac isn't powerful enough to keep u cool.

On a side note... im assuming ur from glendale cuz that's literally Armenia, socal lollz. Ara barev!

mole177 Mar 29, 2008 01:40 PM

lol... you caught the drift.

KoolMikeSki Mar 29, 2008 01:43 PM

AC is really good in the fit, Love the way the rear seats fold so you can haul stuff. I think it has better styling then the Yaris. And the yaris is only a two door hatch unless you get the 4 door which is even more ugly. I needed 4 doors for the family and still wanted a hatch :)

I didnt even consider the toyo. My 4 door SI that I just totaled depreciated 150 bucks over 7 months and 16k miles. THATS why I got a fit, reliable, fun, good looking(imo) and should hold its value fairly well. Compared to the yaris, XA, XB, Vibe etc the fit is the best looking in the lot if you ask me.

how's seating width wise?

I see the seats are hugging type? I have fairly broad shoulders (48'' suit) would i be comfortable width wise?

you guys have auto or manual trans?

tecknical Mar 29, 2008 02:33 PM

the seats are pretty comfortable. my dad is a big fellow (6'1" 250 lbs) and he still fits and he said he has a lot of leg room too. the back seats are a little stiff, but thats a matter of preference. i got the auto transmission because of so cal traffic (which is WONDERFUL as you know) and because i heard the MT gearbox has smaller gear ratios

Fit is ForReal..

Yaris is for Yuppies

honestly the ac in the fit sucks haha but its better than the yaris'

mole177 Mar 29, 2008 03:18 PM

I would prefer not to have a piss fit over why yaris sucks...

so according to sOx, a/c sucks?

it depends.. I would if I were you test them both and sit in the car turn the AC to max and time how long it takes to get cold..

s0x Mar 29, 2008 03:41 PM

also consider that the car i came from had a bigger engine so that prob helps the ac but really YOU MUST CONSIDER that the fit has 10! windows hahah 10 not 4 6 or even 8 like most cars lol so some tint in the back would im sure help the ac

solbrothers Mar 29, 2008 03:50 PM

i work for toyota, and bought a fit LOL. the fit is a MUCH better car than the yaris.

I'm 6`1 and the seats are very good. I hardly use the a/c no matter now hot it is, i just roll with the front 2 windows down, all the time, except when it rains.

I have a manual tranny and it is the best i've ever driven, well i've only driven my Fit and a Civic SI. And yes, it does have short gear ratios but you get use to it fast.

Snap Fit Mar 29, 2008 03:56 PM

For what little this may be worth-
the fit seats are more gently bolstered and cupped than the new civic. They Fits seats hold you in ok, a little better than some but they are not really tight like some others. The padding seems a tiny bit stiffer than some others though. But if i remember correctly the seats in the Yaris held you less and were harder still. But I had messed around with the Yaris many months ago, so I could be wrong.

peace:)

i am 6'7 and fit in the fit nicely. my dad is 6'10 and he was able to sit in the back alright LOL. definately an under-rated people mover!!

geeze you guys are tall.

i understand legroom and will accomodate tall people, what about width? like when i drive in it, (Eventually i will test drive it,) will i bump shoulders with the passenger riding side by side?

Firebat666 Mar 29, 2008 05:40 PM

I have no comment on the AC... got mine in Sept. and have not used it... the seats are nice, im tiny tho.. but my "wide" friends say they are nice, also i am in a MT, and i love it... the electronic DBW throttle takes some getting used to but once you do its a blast!

NEK FIT Mar 30, 2008 07:30 AM

I rented a Yaris for a two-week road trip in Iceland last summer. It was a nice car, nimble and had good mpg. What I didn't like was that my wife and I could get only one piece of luggage in the micro trunk area -- had to set the other piece on the back seat. With a Fit, you could definitely put all your luggage (or groceries or whatever) in the back, accessing that area through the hatch.

I think the Fit is lots better looking. Its lines flow more smoothly than any of the other subcompacts. I read some car reviewer who said the Yaris reminded him of a crouching dung beetle (!). I have to admit it hits me the same way. :rotfl:
