how well do manual's sell used?

I'm debating whether or not to purchase a manual or auto.

I would prefer a manual however I do not plan to keep the car long. There is prob more demand of autos, however how hard of a time might I have selling a manual via private party?

selling privately is a hit or miss... sometimes you get lucky and fine
that one person that wants your car, etc.

on a car like the Fit, i dont think you'll have problems selling MT.

It will likely take a bit longer, since the potential pool of buyers is smaller, but I don't think you'd have any problems. My last 5 cars have been manuals and I've sold them all within a week or so.

The smaller and sportier the car, the easier it is selling a MT. I think you'd have more trouble selling selling, say, an MT Element than a MT Fit.

:wavey: I would think AUTO's would be more of a demand. Depends on where you live as well...for things like traffic...manuals are tough all day sitting in traffic like me in LA...:( .

it depends were u live. But you prob wont have any probs. BEcause the fit is a small engine a manual makes way more sense. Plus if you are seeling a manual you can prob get a lot of younger kids interested.

Get what you prefer

...the manual will be a nice surprise to you around town. You control bleeding off speed with the chosen gear and a deft touch on that oh so gentle throttle by wire. NICE. The automatic will have foot to the brake pedal way more than you'd think...

im not sure what the actual numbers are, but the MT fits seem more rare.

Resale demand is much higher for auto transmission.
Resale price is higher for auto transmission.

Manual transmission offers better performance and lower initial cost. You get higher mpg but many people don't want it for urban driving. Not bad for commuting longer distance.

Dealerships have left over manual Fits and hardly any automatics.
Yet many more Fits arrive in automatic so they have no trouble selling the automatics.

I would also say it depends where you live. Near where I live in Jersey, a dealer has a used 07 SSM Fit Sport, manual trans. with 11,500 miles. The asking price is 13,990. Sales guy said its been on the lot a few weeks with little, to no interest. Not much of a market for manual in high traffic areas around here. It's not a bad deal huh ? I think I'll check it out asap :D
