What's faster-Fit, older Accords?

I'm curious. I have two friends with accords. One is a 2000 Accord coupe V6, the other is a 2001 Accord four door with the mid-range 4 cyl. Going off of 0-60 times, the Fit MT runs around 8.7-10 secs? How does this compare to those older Accords? All I can find online are for other years/engines.

Im sure the V6 coupe would own the Fit.
The 4cyl sedan may be rather close. Its a good question.

The closest I can find is a time of 7.9 seconds for the 2000 V6 coupe's 0-60. Does that sound right?

Well I think you can bet you'll get smoked by the v6, and in a straight line, I'd doubt you be able to touch the four either with its 2.3.

Fits ain't fast...:(

edit* but then again the 2.3 is only 135hp. I think Tool is right, it would be a close fight.

Fit:2471lb
Accord: 3990lb

Fit 22.67 hp/lb
Accord: 29.56hp/lb

the j series engine in the 2000 v-6 accords is actually the same that was used in the 03-07 versions....those made more power due to some ecu retuning and revised intake manifolds...i think the net power gain was some 40hp! Obviously a stock fit doesnt' stand a chance against that, but against a 200hp 2000 accord, i still think that the fit would loose the upper hand, and you'd have to REALLy flog it to keep up.

even the f23 came in a 150hp version, and that alone may be enough to trounce the fit. the 135hp version may not get away so easily. and most f23's that you'll encounter would be the 150hp version, as only the dx got the 130 hp verison, and i can't even remember the last time i saw a 97-02 dx accord.

do they have manual transmissions? the V6 will probably smoke a fit. the 4 cylinder will be close. especially if it has an automatic.
0-60 times are not as important as 1/4 mi. times in terms of racing.
you'd have a better chance on a race track than a drag strip.

I hate to be "that guy", but isn't it lb/hp?

piperpiperpiper Apr 17, 2008 03:00 PM

these vehicles are both automatics. Why you would buy a new car with an auto is beyond me...

*wink

piperpiperpiper Apr 17, 2008 03:02 PM

And the V6 would have 14.74 lbs/hp. Yeah, a flogging.

The fit would have to weigh 1606.66 lbs to pace the V6 accord. Know how I can lose 864 lbs?

ha! This is fun!

The heaviest 2008 Accord weighs 3567 lbs.

I dont think the 3990 lb figure is correct.

piperpiperpiper Apr 17, 2008 03:13 PM

We're talking about a 2000 V6 Accord auto coupe and a 2001 Accord sedan with the 135hp 4 cyl.

I'd put my money on a manual Fit over any automatic 4 cylinder Accord and over almost any automatic N/A 4 cylinder. Low torque and auto's are a bad match. The QR25 and old KA24's in Nissan's are an exception because they're fairly torquey. I'm sure there are other exceptions also. The v6 would destroy the Fit though.

piperpiperpiper Apr 17, 2008 03:24 PM

I'm sure the situation will come up where he'll challenge me (we engage in little competitions all the time), and I just don't want to come up too short!

coupdetat Apr 17, 2008 03:27 PM

Where the heck did you get 3900lbs for an Accord from? That's WAY off. That's more like the weight of a Hemi 300C.... not an older I4 Accord :o

yeamans17 Apr 17, 2008 03:29 PM

My 92 accord had an f22a1, h23 intake manifold, cold air intake, megan header, and greddy sp2 exhaust with the stock trans only put down a 16.4 in the quarter, I swapped that for the m2b4 h22 lsd trans but never made it to the track, but it made a hell of a difference, but without it the Fit feels quicker
