Hello! Just bought a Fit today.

After paying $140 a week to feed my 4X4 V10 F250 I went and bought a Fit.
I have been commuting by bicycle (I'm a cycle geek!) but the wife urged me to get a small car for commuting at night. My drive is 40km to work and back.
Anyway, after reading the reviews and about the new 2009's coming out I bought a new 2008 LX 5spd in red. I am also getting $1000 back from the Feds for Canada's ecoauto program. And 20% back on my insurance for 4 years under the provincial eco program. The 09's do not qualify for the rebates I'm getting so I passed on it. Besides, I would have burnt 6K worth of gas by then in my truck.
I pick it up Monday and actually I'm exited about the fuel savings. I hope to chat with the board on a regular basis.
I also own an FJ40 and a ZX-11 and a 72' Datsun 510 which I am restoring.
1st question. I have been reading about easy to scratch paint. I assume all the paints are clear coated. Is the clear soft? Does this effect all Fits?
Any other tips for a new owner?

I can honestly say you made an extremely wise decision. With gas prices expected to be $6 a gallon by next year (if crude hits 200). All paint is pretty soft on all cars today since they changed the paint formula. A lot of people complain about it on the Fit but it was no better on a $50K Lexus. Clear bra helps a lot if you think it’s worth putting it on a Fit.

Welcome aboard!

The clear coat is mixed with the paint, so unfortunately there are not two separate layers.

Let's see pics of the datsun though!!!

Congratulations on the purchase. Very nice choice, my next choice was the Black Yaris hatchback

I'm getting mine next Wednesday--weeks earlier than I expected. I got the manual version to qualify for the $1000 eco-rebate, but hadn't heard about the provincial program to get 20% back on insurance!

Which province are you in? I'm in Ontario.

I'm in Saskatchewan.
As far as I know only MB and SK have this insurnace rebate thing.
I also bought the 5 speed to get the $1000.
Its about time the feds gave me something! To bad they cancelled the program.
