SeaFoam Green in Greece / 7 Speed mode? / front shift buttons

2 Attachment(s)
I spotted this AT Jazz in Corfu Greece at a rental agency.
What's up w/ "7 speed Mode" Button on the steering wheel?
Wonder why we (U.S.) don't get to have the 7 speed.
Wonder if it improves mpg?
( I did a site search for 7 speed but found nothing. )
And I think the front shift buttons instead of the back-side shift paddles is much more user friendly.
I keep hitting the darn things in my Fit whenever I use the blinker.

Whew, and that color...I don't know about that.

I believe with the Euro markets CVT transmission you can pick the "7 Speed Mode" which lets you "shift" between 7 preset points on the CVT to give you more control over the transmission that's normally not found on the linear CVTs.

I'm more interested in what that ugly looking thing to the left of it is lol.

i agree with you on that answer - about the cvt,
also that red thing, ewww lol
nissan?

Arisenfury 05-09-2008 11:22 PM

After some sleuth work I have discovered that it is actually a Nissan Micra. Although I think Nissan Fugly would be just as fitting haha.

CVT is a piece of junk having many problems. That's why it's GONE no more built with CVT's anywhere as Honda has switched to the 5 speed regular auto that is offered in the USDM one for all it's models.

jazzman 05-10-2008 04:07 PM

Here in Greece we have only the jazz 1.2(78hp) and 1.3(86hp).
The 1.3 has manual gearbox or the CVT with 7 mode.)7manual transmission)
That ugly car is the Nissan Micra which sales more than jazz in Greece:confused:

CVT is awesome. my jazz/fit is always at exactly the right revs for the situation. if i accelerate hard, the revs go to 5500 and stay there until i reach the desired speed. if i want to save gas i can keep the revs to less than 2k almost all the time in the city. keeping the speed constant, the revs go up and down depending on if im going up or downhill. there is no jerking between gear changes and i've had zero problems with it so far.

uhh oooohhhh

but is CVT really that bad?
that other person said they loved it.
i don't really fully understand it though, so i don't really know!

billmus86 05-11-2008 09:36 PM

nissan uses them,
maybe its like a rotary engine...
its got its ups and downs

although i have driven a murano with cvt, and it was pretty nice
sssssmmmmoooooooooooooootthhhhhh

claymore 05-12-2008 12:47 AM

Just go to some international Jazz/Fit sites and you will find loads of long posts about all the problems they have. And I'm sure glad Honda took my advice and trash-canned that thing. :rotfl:

If it was Sooooo wonderful why did Honda dump it for the conventional one????

Don't you just love it when people comment on a car they have never driven or owned.

I don't know why but a brochure direct from my local Honda dealer said that the CVT is discontinued. So who do you believe. Check the 2009 fit thread.

I believe Honda's HP. I can't say anything about problems with the CVT, but Honda most definitely is still using them. All JDM 2nd gen Fits except for the 4wds have CVT std.; the 4wds get the 5 speed we have, and only the RS has a 5MT available. What they do outside of Japan is another thing, but in Japan nothing has changed at all.

BTW, the red car behind it is indeed a Nissan Micra, or March, in the JDM market. Great car actually, Nissan March - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The USDM Civic Hybrid still runs a CVT.

My mom has one in her murano and it crapped out. The tranny just seized and they had to replace it (luckily under warranty). I would never buy a car with CVT.

fluffy bunny 05-13-2008 02:03 PM

I think when the new Mini came out it had the CVT. And if you think the Nissan looks strange, I saw quite a few of these Mitsus driving around Japan when I was there last summer.

The "I" has the engine under the back seat - think it is 3 cylinder.
