this is an awesome read. somewhat lengthy, but definitely a cool story.

Some of the stuff that guy does is STUPID. Sure, you get more fuel efficiency, but seriously... There's a point where you're going too far.

i agree. but his mentality is spot on. parking so you have a clear exit, the fact that he slowed to a stop when the lady sped up and SLAMMED on the brakes.

things like that will help. and damn, 180MPG in an insight!! that's just crazy!

I remember reading that............obsessed, that is what my wifes says I am and all I want to do is break 50mpg.:p Time is obviously NOT a concern for him.

yeah lol. but, you definitely can't argue with his results. he's getting 59mpg in an accord!!! people aren't even doing that in fits LOL

That is a given. You will always get better mileage if you stay in a semi truck's draft.

ehhhh... i don't agree with your gas filling techniques. not calling you a liar or anything, but you must have some AWESOME weather conditions and only drive down hill. ;)

Until they slam on the brakes and you rear-end them.

Good read, but the practicality of some of the techniques would drive me crazy in everyday situations. No A/C or windows down when its warm sucks bigtime.

You long-time members are really reaching to find the most unflattering pictures of hypermiling, while ignoring videos like this one...a rational person would investigate and try it before coming to a conclusion.
