Shifting into 1st gear (maunual trans only)

I tried to adjust the master rod, but that was just a temporary fix. If i got it to shift smooth it would slip. I adjusted it to a happy medium until it started slipping then gave up.
I swapped the clutch this weekend to an exedy hck1006. When I pulled it out I saw that a few of the fingers on the pressure plate diaphragm spring weren't lined up with the rest of them. Its hard to see in the pic, but you can get the idea. I've never seen that before, so I am guessing that was my issue.
