Totaled fit

I was thinking about trading my 2007 Fit in for a 2009, and now the descision has been made for me.

I was just headed home on a Sunday afternoon after filling up. I was in the inside lane of a 4 lane divided state highway when a dual wheeled Dodge Ram pulled out from a Sonic drive in across both lanes of traffic. I must say, the Fit slows down very quickly but I still hit him doing about 20mph. The impact wasn't as bad as I was braced for and the crumple zones absorbed most of it. The airbag did go off however.

When I got out of the car, my hands felt like they were on fire. Apparently, the airbag exhausts right above the center of the steering wheel. When I saw the damage it kind of made me sick. The car was in excellent condition and I kept up on the scheduled maintenance. The guy that hit me was nice enough. He was sorry and at least he had insurance. I was suprised at the payoff on the car. It was almost exactly the sticker price I paid for it. Now I am driving my niece's 1997 Mitzubishi Mirage until I can get a 2009.

omg accidents ALWAYS happen right after filling up with gas! Glad that you're ok!!
<sarcasm> You'd think someone up that high in a truck would be able to see good enough to know if it was a good time to merge into traffic </sarcasm>

Yeah, I sure loved that car. Usually when I buy a car it is for the long term. I commute quite a ways and the Fit was perfect for me. I can't wait to get an '09.

It held up quite well! I love how the one headlight is still in one piece!?
Glad to hear nobody was hurt (apart from the car ofcourse), waiting for the '09 is probably the best thing you can do at the moment...

Bummer about the car, at least it gave its life to keep you going.

Moment of silence...

Sorry about your car, but at least you're okay. The other guy's nice attitude and current insurance don't hurt, either.

When you get your 2009, you'll have to tell us what you think compared to the current/outgoing model.

Fellow Dentonite Fit owner here,
Sorry to hear about that, was that one of the Sonics on 380? Dude was probably trying to get to his fries!

I think I prefer the look of the 2008 compared to the 2009, but I would love to have the telescoping steering wheel! Good luck!

Nevermind if looks like you were at the West University Sonic, traffic sucks there!

It's funny, I went to the dealer a week after to get some info on a 2009.They had 2 2008's on the lot and the salesman was trying to sell me one. He was showing me all the features, and I added a few things he forgot (I sure he appreciated that). When I bought my 2007, I hadn't even driven one. My brother was the one that told me about the Fit and after I got interested, he located one where he lives (New Orleans). I have had many cars in my life and this is the first time I ever bought one sight unseen.

Yes, it was at that Sonic. There have been 4 accidents there that I know of. My neighbor's kid had the same thing happen to him, at the same place.
