What's your best mpg per tank?
 

Let me start.

440 miles with 9.651gal fill = 45.59mog.

The only thing I notice is I achieved this while doing P&G, FAS and driving slow like 52mph with cruise control. I was able to get 445 in a tank last time just cruising at 52-55mph without P&G and FAS and fill of 10.172. Seems the difference is very little since I drive 90% highway and 10% city. Now I have my K&N air filter, maybe i will get more on a tank.

I forgot to add I was at 40psi on all tires. Here's the more detailed breakdown.

• 440/tank = P&G, FAS and cruising between 50-52mph and sometimes 55mph with 40psi on all tires and fill was 9.651gal.
• 445/tank = Cruising between 52-55mpg with 30psi on all tires with fill of 10.172 gal.

Best so far:

502.5 miles
10.853 gals
46.3 MPG

AT Fit, 51psi front and rear.

Dino oil (soon to be synth)

FAS and N-coasting only

42.4 mpg on something like 9 gallons, the mileage log is in the car.

I could have done so much better. That tank had the cruise set at 58, the AC was never shut off, and headlights always on. Then again, the UP does offer loooong stretches of 55mph roads.

The really interesting one was the following tank of 38.9 mpg for the next 300 miles. AC was always on, cruise set at 75 mph, and then Grand Rapids rush hour and the crazy driving that went with it. Tires at 34 psi F/ 32 psi R.

I love this car. The old civic M/T would only do 29 mpg doing that last bit.

42mpg is the best to date for me.

That's nice, that's what I want to get 500+ a tank.

i dont think ive broken 50mpg, but im close. i havent broken 50mphg in a tank, but im clase

I also love my fit,the only downfall I see is the high insurance

43.9 mpg. Tires at 32 psi, no air conditioning, mainly on rural highways where the speed limit was 50 mph (and I stuck to it), coasting where the grade permitted, and a stretch of drafting behind a tractor trailer. BTW, my Fit is a Sport with a manual transmission.

My best tank so far was around 42 mpg. That was going mostly downhill from Reno to the Bay Area in I-80, hitting frequent heavy traffic (bumper to bumper in some instances), no AC, running 34 psi and factory oil.

I usually average about 34-35 mpg.

How did 13.35 gal fit in 10.8 gal car?:confused:

With my K&N air filter installed, I noticed my fit ran smoother and did not have to squeeze the gas pedal too much. The car go much easier now. I have not tested the gas mileage because on my last fill up, I ran the car hard. I will monitor my gas mileage on my next fill up.

Not advocating doing it at all, but it's real. It's the only way I could get consistent OEM MPG numbers. After wasting a great deal of time chasing my ass.

"Auto shut off" varies a great deal on my car and I suspect all Fits'. My plan is to do it for 4 fills to get my SG dead on with my driving style than stop. At that point I cant trust SG more than OEM:)

My fit from NO gas to tip top "in sight", takes 13.45gal to an ounce!
Using a random Pump Auto cut off from a 100% empty tank (my 600 mile run in August) it takes 12.45 gal. That may of been wrong and some of the reason I decided to test this as I'm doing.
On my last 3 over fills I was able to add (below) from the 1st Auto cut off.
8-15 +2.36 Gal
8-30 +4.00
9-24 +2.67
All from the same pump and one I verified with a measured 1 gal can.

So you can see on 3 fills above, the fill at the Auto cut off can vary all over the place:confused: :mad: :mad:

Filling to the top you can see it with you eye and verify what when in the tank.

This is exactly the reason you see some claim unreal FE on a tank and than the next (if the report) it but that good.

All I can say is Honda spec is very conservative and nothing close to reality:p



BTW Shawn did a REAL A-B-A test this summer, with OEM vss K&N on his Fit and measured no gain at all. Sorry for the bad news, but figured you'd rather have the truth. Search on K&N and look for his test......

Okay I'm not gonna try to overfill the tank. I will find out myself if there are any gains in mpg with my K&N. The car seems to respond good to my new K&N Air Filter compare to the OEM filter I had. I will try it this week because I will be filling the car tomorrow morning and see how it does with no other hypermiling technique other than cruising between 50-55mph then I will try on the following week to include FAS, P&G and cruise with the air pressure that tires have(40psi)

With the filter change.
Call K&N and ask them for the Fit ECO gains from the Filter over a clean Honda filter. The person I spoke to said NON and like the fine print, they are from the old filter being greatly fouled.

Trust me what you feel and may what to see is better but it's been hashed out many times before this. Just figured I'd toss you some help.

Do you think your tank to tank repeatability is capable of seeing a 2mpg shift?

i got 42mpg filling up today. 388.8 miles/ 9.2 gallons. mostly highway driving around 62 mph. i figure you will get better mpg if you dont rev above 3400rpm and activate the "vtec".

Best tank: 48.9mpg. Half was my normal, mostly highway driving. The other half was a round trip from L.A. to Bakersfield. My tanks on both sides of that were 44.5, which is what I usually get, so I don't think the higher number is due to filling error.

Yea, I'm sure my "clicks" are off a bit, but it's the avg over several tanks that counts, and thus, removes the variance due to pump click-offs differences.

Currently my last 11 tanks netted me 42.3 mpg (I'm keeping track over at cleanmpg.com). My graph looks like a California seismograph indicating variance due to pump shut off.

Never the less, my long term average is what counts both in true economy and savings over the life of the car. Hence why I bought this thing in the first place.

Still kickin' myself for my 37.5mpg tank two weeks ago though! I had a bad case of the fu*kit's and hypermiling! AC, jack-rabbit starts, punching out of corners etc. O'well. :) Last tank was 43.95.

My best tank(s) was(were) out in Colorado. A fillup in Gunnison at about 1/2 tank was: 5.088 gallons for 259 miles = 50.9 mpg. This wasn't a fluke. The fillup before this was 4.558 gallons for 225 miles = 49.4 mpg. And the fillup after was at the same station and same pump in Gunnison and took 8.583 gallons for 436 miles = 50.8 mpg. For the Colorado gas, the total was 920 miles and 18.229 gallons for an average of 50.5 mpg. This is for a base manual '08 and my average speed was between 50 and 55 mph.
